Unconverted Al-Qadim creatures

None left! Note however that some Al-Qadim creatures that were later republished as generic 2nd Edition creatures remain unconverted.

Hmmmm... BOZ's fey thread has made me think that it might be very useful to assign each of the creatures on these lists a 3.5 type (and maybe subtypes). Doing so would allow me to generate lists of unconverted fey (or outsiders, or plants) very quickly, and will of course assist in the eventual process of developing conversions for the creatures.

Would anyone be up to such a challenge?

some of them ought to have a suggested type(s), in cases where it is debatable.

Agreed. Few would be completely set in stone, unless they say "dragon" or "golem" or whatnot.

Okay then, here's a first batch of suggestions...

Ammut - Magical Beast?
Ashira - Fey
Black Cloud of Vengeance - no idea!
Camel of the Pearl - Magical Beast?
Copper Automaton - Construct
Debbi - Magical Beast? (Animal?)
Elephant Bird - Animal
Giant, Jungle - Giant
Hama - Outsider?
Heway - Magical Beast?
Markeen - Outsider
Maskhi - Humanoid (Shapechanger)
Mason-Wasp, Giant - Vermin
Nasnas - Undead?
Pahari - Fey?
Sabu Lord - Magical Beast
Sakina - Fey
Serpent, Winged - Animal
Serpent Lord - Aberration?
Silat - Monstrous Humanoid?
Stone Maiden - Monstrous Humanoid?
Zin - No clue! "Weird shapeshifting spirit snake" maybe.

Hmmm... that was harder than I thought. I'm not sure of many of those at all :\

The black cloud of vengeance was listed in Monstrous Manual (2e) as a composite elemental. I would probably go with magical beast for the mason wasp and serpent lord (it looks like a naga, but it's associated with normal snakes).

anything (from any setting) that we can reasonably classify as fey would be helpful to me right about now. ;)

Thanks GrayLinnorm -- I agree with all of your suggestions. I've edited the inital post to include the creature types.

Any idea on classifying the zin?

Magical beast for zin? I'll admit that this one would be easier if shapechanger were a full-fledged creature type.... (ditto al-jahar)

Echohawk,

I am unable to find some of the al-Qadim monster that you say have been converted the Maskhi for example is there a place where all of these are located? I also have conversion for the Silat done if you would like that.

I think Maskhi is unconverted, actually, which is why it's in this list...

As freyar pointed out, the Maskhi is on the list because it hasn't been converted anywhere yet (as far as I know). If you are looking for an easy way to track down the creatures that have been converted, you might want to try my complete index of D&D creatures (end of shameless plug!).

As far as the Silat goes, it would be great to cross that one off the list. Is it available anywhere on the web yet? If so, I'll add it to my index and remove it from the unconverted list.

The Silat isn't posted anywhere on the web yet. I will post it here soon so that everyone can look at it. I now see some monsters that I didn't see on your list at the top of the page (anything that is not converted from City of Delights for example) although they are mentioned in the figure out the type bit.

I was looking at the list of unconverted monsters and noticed that the creatures from Corsairs of the Great Sea are not listed, but I can't seem to find where they have been converted. I believe they all also appeared in an MCA, would they be listed there instead?

Yes, for the unconverted creature lists, the most recent source determines which list a critter ends up on. So all the creatures from Corsairs of the Great Sea are listed under the Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume Two on this list.

There's a Pocket Reference for all Al-Qadim creatures here, which might be helpful if you are hunting specifically for monsters from that setting.
