Using Saints as replacement for Divine Pantheons does work rather well, actually. They'd likely have a limited selection of Domains however. Some of the Saints listed have very limited portfolios, such as St. Denis, Patron of Araterre. He'd probably only have Community and Protection as his other Domains.

But then you have others like St. Nicolas, who is the patron of children. But he's also the patron of sailors and travelers. And historically, Nicolas was a fighter too. He boxed Arius' ears because of his heresy during a council of the church.

If you want to run a beast-master character, you could go with St. Francis of Asisi. He spoke with animals.

If you go to a used book store or theological library, there is, out there, a four volume set that contains every Saint of the Western church. The Eastern Orthodox also have a multi-volume tome covering their Saints as well. They contain stories of their lives, which will give you their alignment, as well as an idea of the Domains they would provide.

With Banestorm, you could also add Saints specific to Yrth. If you have some Domains that aren't covered, you simply create a Saint to fill the niche.

For the Muslim lands, you would have to take a different tact. I haven't researched that part out, but it would be a must if you were going to translate the setting completely.

Actually all the D&D classes fit well into Ytarria. Druids and rangers represent the old faith, Sahud and the Far East Towns in Tredoy and other cities give excuses for monks, and clerics and paladins can be found in Islam and Christianity. And the presence of magic allows for Bards, Sorcerers, and Wizards, Of course, Barbarians, Rogues, and Fighters fit well everywhere. All the traditional races exist as well as a large Goblin population.

Now Caithness is a very low magic campaign, how do you tweak the Pathfinder system to do that? My solution is to make all spells Modern d20 incantations when in Caithness. As well as some of the high mana and wild mana regions (generally I allow bonus metamagic feats and have some wild surges).

Well, I was going to rant about saints, but someone else beat me to it. Several someones, in fact. In a D&D campaign where catholicism existed (my character was an elf paladin of the Catholic Church), the other "Gods" were explained away by the church by either sainting the good ones or demonizing the bad ones. The problematics the Church had with explaining these other deities was part of the setting.

Also, demonology may be handy for this. The Catholic church demonized a lot of the old gods when they moved in (and occassionally sainted a few) when the religion was spread across europe. Deals-with-devils would work well here, as well as old school pantheism. Or Hindi. If I remember right, Old School D&D outright 'ported gods from real world mythology (especially Egyptian myth - Forgotten Realms for one of the expansions outright shanghaied the whole Pantheon).
