[Updated 7/5] Latest update on my FR game: as ever, opinions wanted

Don't have the time to read it all through, but so far, I like it! I might evenb steal something for my ongoing Cormyr campaign

Just one small thing:

Purple Dragon of Cormyr – Alec and Vanderghast will attempt to summon this great beast as part of their campaign to “unite” the Sword Coast under their rule…

...

IIRC then "Cormyr - A Novell" clearly tells that the Purple Dragon is dead since about twohundred years ago, slain by the prince of Cormyr at that time I think, after it had destroyed a large piece of Suzail Castle.

But hey, maybe you just don't give a damn about that :)

But you could also make her (I think it was female) a Black Dragon Dracolich. Hmm, I like this idea...

Well, guess I should change the word "summon" to "raise" then, shouldn't I? ;)

And actually, I had no idea. Never read the Cormyr novel. The FRCS talks about the Purple Dragon here and there and never said anything about it being dead that I saw, so I figured I'd run with it, ya know?

I almost wish I had never read this thread. My replacement DM is currently running us through adventures based in Cormyr but using third party modules (Loc Durnun and various Monkey God releases) and plans to, possibly, include Into the Dragon's Lair. The party has Successfuly liberated a gold mine (Loc Durnan module) placed to be near the King's Forest, and, while trying to discover how to destroy an evil mind contoling gem, we foiled one Country Noble's attempt to gain claim to the throne (based on something from Dungeon mag).

We currently have: a sun elf fighter 3/wizard 1 (I want that Bladesinger class) scouting the area and trying to bring stability in a prelude to the elven return and an attempt to retake Cormanthyr, a moon elf fighter 2/thief 2 gunning for Order of the Bow Initiate, human monk 4(UA Cobra Strike monk variant with hopes of Weapons Master), human rogue 4 out for fun and profit, and a human mounted fighter 4(intent on taking some Paladin levels before going Cavalier) keeping an eye on us for the crown. The DM has put in an NPC cleric to give us some access to healing between encounters or we would be in a serious case of the dead by now.

This idea would be perfect for us in about 10 more levels. Who knows, I might just decide to return to the other side of the screen earlier than I had intended even if it means running the Realms instead of my homebrew world. We switch hit on the DMing all the time. He is bound to be sick of the screen by the time we can actually tackle something this involved.

et tu, Qualir? That's 2 of you now that want to use this... damn, I must be doing SOMETHING right. All I can say now is, if my players complain about this game, I'm gonna kick their asses like you wouldn't believe!

Just don't get too happy with the royalties when WOTC tries to steel the idea too :)

Of course I have already snapped up the thread with Adobe web capture to enable an easier use by myself. :) If you ever need it for that pending lawsuit, I might even sell it back to ya. :)

The price would have to be a second installment of the work.

Although, my group is always on the scout for quality DMs :)

I just had my fiance read over the writing -- she's gonna be in the game, and she's the one who knows the least about the Realms, so I figured if it made sense to her, it would be good for the others. Ya know what she told me? "You should write a book."

Oh yeah, and "are we gonna get something like this EVERY game? 'Cause we should..."

As for the second installment... well, I'm thinking of writing up some more of the behind-the-scenes stuff the players wouldn't be privy to. And there's always campaign logging.

As for the DM thing... where ya from? :)

Dayto, Ohio. Home of the .... Actually backwater midsized city that makes Cleveland look like a paradise :(

Ohioan? Really? Me too! I'm from Niles (near Youngtown) -- we suck.

So, uh... are there any good IT jobs in Dayton?

Wow, that is BFE Ohio, although the RenFest is kinda fun.

Working in medicine, I am not that informed about IT jobs. I do know that the local hospital networks (Kettering Med Center, Miami Valley, & the VA) have IT departments. Wright Pat AFB downsized their subcontracters this past Dec (costing one friend/player his IT job) to make room for civilian employees. We have 3 good sized colleges that might be hiring (Sinclair CC, UD, and Wright State). Otherwise it would probably be one of the major factories (GM, Panasonic, & Toyota). I think most other companies subcontract. Of course there is always delivering pizzas :) or working for the city. :( You could always teach public school if you have an MS :\

Most of our big guns have relocated to Cincinati, Columbus, Cleveland (shudder), or Mexico since the stock market went belly up :(
