You could check the Black Flag SRD out to see their take on the class to pilfer from! It’s not quite what you want, but I think it’s closer then the 5/5.5 Bard (generally true of their classes imo).
I usually love KP work in the broad strokes and find the final execution frustrating. Like i got their big spells book and felt like over half of it was very obviously poorly balanced, often because a spell was just "5e spell but less broadly applicable with no increase in power or decrease in cost" or because a spell just did something that seemed a level or two too weak for the spell level it was at.

That being said, their concepts are absolutely killer.
 

I like the thinking for sure. But why needle around the edges, bards should not have any spell per class (some from subclass maybe) they should have songs, some instant, some that take two rounds to manifest, and they should be bonus actions.

Bards, the class named after the mythical Taleisen, should definitely have spells.
 

okay, quick rundown of what i might give them/have them be, it's not everything but an outline.

baseline
d8HD
simple weapons plus shortsword, scimitar and whip, medium armour
skills: acrobatics, sleight of hand, arcana, history, nature, religion, animal handling, insight, medicine, deception, performance.
tools: one instrument, one gaming set and one of caligrapher's supplies, weaver's tools, disguise kit or herbalism kit.

level 1
bardic inspiration.
reliable talent - arcana, history, nature, religion, medicine.
ritual casting + any 3 rituals..

level 3
BA help action
song of rest
bardic learning choice of:
-longsword and rapier proficiency, x2 weapon masteries, one fighting style of archery, defence, dueling or two weapon fighting.
-any three skills, x2 expertise (on any proficient skill)
-any three nondamaging cantrips, magical secrets-any 2 spells(from either cleric druid wizard)
