Six words: Kate Beckinsale as a gun-toting vampire.

'Nuff said.

BTW, this is the second thread start-up on Underworld.

EDIT (7/14/03): Corrected spelling.

Actually, I think the count is at around 4 or 5 now. :)

I started one, another one popped up right after it and I know it happened at least one other time. It's already got a cult following... :p

I'm totally there to see "Underworld". Without a doubt.

However, a part of me (that has nothing to do with the experience of going to see this movie), feels bad for White Wolf. Movies that are either inspired by or accidently coincidentally like their rpg world give no credit to White Wolf itself. I doubt we'll see a blurb in the credit sequence that says something like, "based on the setting created by White Wolf".

I'm not sure if my feelings are unwarranted or not. But its one of my little things. I don't like seeing the underdog go unappreciated. I just do my part and tell those who aren't in the know that before Underworld, White Wolf made their setting.

Well, it'd probably be better to see the movie first, before you go saying that. Unless you've got some inside information, we don't know how much it conicides with the Storyteller game setting. There were werewolves and vampires running around in the same fictional world before WW, you know.

Yeah I know, and I try to point those out too. But usually when I mention WW, I know they aren't THE originators of that concept, ( but I'd like to inform people that they were others there first before the guys on "Underworld" ). Also a part of me mentions it so I can shed some light on how cool some rpg settings are to non-gamers.

Example: A few friends of mine will mention how cool they think the "Underworld" concept is and I'll tell them about WW. I did that just recently. I went on to talk about the setting WW made for a few minutes more. As I talked they got more intrigued. A few even said stuff like, "hey, that's cool". Now....they may not ever start up a game based on me telling them about it, but now they no longer have that usual notion that rpg geeks just sit around making game settings with Tolkien books sitting next to their notepads. Some do indeed make other cool settings.

I'm also pretty sure there would be some kind of press release up at White Wolf's website. Besides, except for a very cague stylistic similarity there really not much to support that hypothesis. It could be based on Anita Blake as much White Wolf, or even the Blade movies. Its just good looking people in black leather with guns swords and super powers. Pretty common really.

Everyone say hello to Tsyr. *everyone waves*

Here are your rubber fangs. Did you bring a form-fitting leather outfit of you choosing? *checks bag* Excellent.

Now have a seat next to Mark over here. Careful, he bites.
