Will the new LL adventures take place 20 years after the V&V adventures, or will the V&V adventures be seen as more recent? I'd love to see the V&V universe, a generation later.

Conversion Team

I'm a volunteer conversion and as of now assignments are being handed out to convert all of the characters (www.villainsandvigilantes.com). The instructions state not to change the ages listed in the sourcebooks. I'm doing Most Wanted 3.

We'll see what background changes take place.

The V&V Universe web project (http://www.villainsandvigilantes.com/) that Greg mentioned is an effort to convert all the original V&V adventure NPCs to LL so V&V fans can keep playing in the V&V Universe, if they want.

The new LL adventures will take place in the Living Legends universe, which is set 20 years after V&V and will only include those V&V characters that were created by (and are thus owned by) Jack Herman and myself. Of course, we'll be adding a lot of new stuff to it also.

It's sort of like DC's Earth 2, where all their classic characters are older.

y'know, V&V has been available for years from the original publisher for the same price as well as all the modules...

That's generally common knowledge, and it is where I replaced my V&V collection after it all got ripped off a couple of years ago.

But to finally have a revision to the game is something that appeals to me, and is why I pimped it in this thread in the first place.

P.S.: Hi everybody! This is my first time on EN World, and I don't know how often I'll be back, but I see a lot of questions so here I am.

Hey Jeff Dee! Just wanted to let you know that V&V (the second edition) was one of my all time favorite games, and the V&V my friends and I had lasted a good, long time! One of the things that really got me interested in the game was the picture of the Gauntlet I saw in my friend's rule book (still looks awesome, btw).

Glad to see (finally) the release of LL, too. I know the game was a solo project by you but I was wondering if there was any involvement (or planned involvement) of Jack Herman?

V&V was not the first supers RPG I ever played; that was Champions. However, I was about 12 when I got it, and it was a lot easier for me to make PCs and run games than Champions. Rolling up random powers and trying to make sense of the combos was half the fun! V&V provided some of the best games of my early gamer days.

(I only wish that it didn't take until 1997 for me to find the errata for the carrying capacity formula! That scewed us up so many times.

You know, I remember going to a comic con here in Chicago back around '82 or '83, and my friend and I stopped at a table in the dealer's hall with a bunch of V&V modules. Some guy was scribbling away behind it.

Me: "Dude, V&V!"
Friend: "Cool."
Me: "Man, I love the art in these. Jeff Dee is awesome."
Friend: "Yeah!"
Me: "So, you want to go blah, blah..."

...and we walked away. It wasn't until years later that I thought about that day, and realized that we were standing right in front of Mr. Dee.

I have yet to forgive myself.

Anyway, it's nice to see you here, Mr. Dee. Let me add my voice to the chorus of long-time fans. I drew a lot in school, and my last name begins with a "D", so I even used to sign my art like you did, e.g., "•D• '85".
