Wahammer RPG

Hi,

Playing in The Enemy Within campaign was one of the most enjoyable role-playing experiences I have had. Warhammer is grim and gritty, but there's also dark humour.

Cheers

Get them all!

I would get them both. There's bound to be a lot of comparison between the first and second versions of the rules, and some people wil say that WFRPv1 is the best, so you will probably want to check what they are on about!

If you don't get the rulebook, get The Enemy Within at least. It won't be reprinted, and is considered by quite a few to be one of the greatest published campaigns ever for any system.

You might hate it, but at least you can have it as a reference to see what many think is a really good campaign.

Get'em all, I say.

Cheers!

I had been hearing positive things about the new WH RPG and whereas I am really excited about it I just hope it can lure more fans than the prior versions of the game.

In my memories, the system was good, certainly better than ADD1, but the real gem was the adventures, some of them rank among the best damn ever.

My favourites of all time include "Power behind the Throne".

rarely seen that level of inestigation/political intrigue anywhere in any RPG.

Great stuff. I will doubtless buy the new game

Can anybody say what the difference is between the two editions? Or, at least, if v2 will keep it's own system or will it be d20 (hoping not)?
Well, you did notice the post from Green Ronin guy Pramas stated that the 2nd edition won't be out until March? Makes it a bit difficult to give you a detailed rundown.

But it has been announced quite clearly that it will not be d20.

More's the pity. ;)

Pretty difficult IMO. It has been done - search the web. I cannot remember the name of the conversion.
Oh, I dunno. It's not difficult to find d20 analogues of the Warhammer creatures, and the NPCs aren't difficult. The biggest problem is the difference in tone from D&D and Warhammer. I'm not really that fond of the WHRPG system, although the setting has a lot of things going for it. Personally, I'd probably run it with FFG's Darkness & Dread which is d20 and pretty much the same tone and feel.

Then again, the 2nd edition may just be the coolest thing yet.

I agree.

BINGO - and yes, the game system is a part of that tone.

WFRP has a lot of warts, but if you did not like 1st edition - I don't think you are going to like 2nd ed. much. Knowing a bit about how you like to play D&D (from your posts here) I'm surprised you did not enjoy it. Those of us who like it, think Chris P. did a decent job of revision. I certainly enjoyed playtesting it.
