"My money'd be on you."

Just wanted to say thanks to all who recommended Deadwood. I finished the season 1 DVDs this weekend.

Awesome.

It's as good as Band of Brothers, in my opinion, and as someone who has always loved westerns and the western genre, it's something I've waited for for a long time in terms of how it approaches the western, the people, characters, writing, and imagery.

Absolutely outstanding series. Shocking, funny, gritty, interesting, gripping, intelligent, powerful.

Wow. I can't wait for season 2 on DVD.

Thanks again for the recommendation!

"I have fled my own office, in horror at the monumental stupidity conveyed to me there."

"I'm as nimble as a forest creature."

Hell, I could quote the whole series . . . if the filter'd let me. ;)

Interesting article on the Deadwood entry in Wikipedia: (I won't post the link here because it violates our profanity statutes by a mile):

Something like 1.21 profanities per minute of air time were uttered in season 1 of that show. :) I didn't think it was possible to swear so much - and still make coherent sentences! :)

There was a scene in The Wire in which every word was a single profanity or one of its derivations. :)

You should see the show.* Some of those sentences are extremely coherent!

*Unless your own personal profanity filter is particularly sensitive. Mine's not, but they're not kidding. The language is . . . severe.
