Just wanted to say thanks to all who recommended Deadwood. I finished the season 1 DVDs this weekend.

Awesome.

It's as good as Band of Brothers, in my opinion, and as someone who has always loved westerns and the western genre, it's something I've waited for for a long time in terms of how it approaches the western, the people, characters, writing, and imagery.

Absolutely outstanding series. Shocking, funny, gritty, interesting, gripping, intelligent, powerful.

Wow. I can't wait for season 2 on DVD.

Something like 1.21 profanities per minute of air time were uttered in season 1 of that show. I didn't think it was possible to swear so much - and still make coherent sentences!

There was a scene in The Wire in which every word was a single profanity or one of its derivations.
