Watermark's Temple of Mysteries

[ooc: was the shattering of my lovely sword due to abominable dice rolls or some unknown danger?]

OOC: Caryatid Columns are just innately tough on weapons. ;) Any weapon that strikes one has to make a FORT save to avoid breaking.

Darian and Grimbold were just lucky enough to make their weapons' saving throws, and Therren wasn't. ('Course, the fact that they have magic weapons doesn't hurt either).

Grimbold grunts, a little surprised at this own strength. He grins, and wipes the dust off of his chainmail. He looks around at the damage the thing has caused.

"We need to help our priest," he finally says.

Aieron shakes himself off after the quick but intense battle. Man, first I missed that thing and when I hit it, it didn't have any effect at all. Can I even handle whatever else is down here?

Moment of self doubt gone quickly, Aieron looks up towards the others. "Anything embeded in that living statue that might serve to tell us what is wrong with Thar."

"Mmm, good point." Therren stoops to examine what remains of the statue, carefully avoiding any remaining shards of his poor deceased weapon.

Jarten breathes a couple times before going to recover his axe, and quickly puts it back at his belt. "I sure needed some exercise." He starts searching the rubble that was the statue and the place it was standing on, looking for any clue.

[Jarten Search Check][Therren Search Check]

Unfortunately, neither one is able to find anything unusual or interesting. It is nothing more now than a pile of broken stone.

[ooc: threshel has informed me that he wants to use Thar's Luck Domain ability to re-roll a die, so here goes...Thar Will Save]

Suddenly, with a lurch, Thar begins to tremble, and then he violently jerks his head around, shaking off the effects of his paralysis! He immediately turns and walks (rather stiffly) to the eastern mosaic wall and reaches out to a specific spot, right where the enthroned woman's lower leg is depicted. He fiddles for just a moment, then a secret compartment springs open. Inside, Thar sees a number of labeled vials and a hollow copper cylinder with shapes cut out of it.

Actions please?

[Welcome back to the land of the active, threshel! Lucky indeed!]

Therren's discouraged look changes to relief as he spies Thar lurching across the room, and then to astonishment as the secret compartment opens. Standing, he says, "Whatcha got there... Thar... and how're you feeling?"

"How - how did you know? What did you see in the mirror? Do you know anything else?" asks Grimbold, a little uneasy at being stuck in a room with magically activating statues and paralyzing mirrors...

"The lady showed me." Thar taps the mosaic. "Vrunnal's strength freed me." He turns and gives his worried companions a toothy grin. "That is all I know."

Thar turns back to examine the contents of the drawer.
"Huh, potions." Thar lifts a vial out to read the label. "And a funny stick."

[ooc: Thar intends to read all the labels. If he cannot understand them, then he'll cast Comprehend Languages. He does not touch the funny stick.]

OOC:

Hey everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know that I'm going to wait one more day, then I'll adjudicate Thar's actions, as well as those of any other characters as necessary.

I want to be sure that everyone has had an adequate chance to post PC actions.

See you tomorrow night!
