D&D 5E Weapons You Miss

5e is great, don't get me wrong. In simplifying things, though, the weapon list was reduced significantly from earlier editions. Some of the weapons (like broadswords, many polearms, dire flails, etc.) were deservedly put on the chopping block, but there are others that are missed.

So, my EN Fam, what weapons from earlier editions that aren't in 5e do you miss the most?

For me, it's garrotes, scythes, long spears, whip-daggers, bolas, chakram, repeating crossbows, and specialty arrows (sheaf, flight, et al.).

Darts are classified as ranged weapons, despite being thrown... How does that interact with ranged feats?
Darts are a ranged weapon with the thrown property. You throw them, which means that despite being ranged weapons, you cannot make a ranged attack with them. However, Sharpshooter says, "Before you make an attack with a ranged weapon that you are proficient with, you can choose to take a -5 penalty to the attack roll. If the attack hits, you add + 10 to the attack's damage." So the trigger is using a ranged weapon, which a dart is, not making a ranged attack, which a dart can't. I'd rule that it works.

An attack with made from range with a thrown weapon is a ranged attack. See the bandit captain stat block, where dagger is listed as a melee or ranged weapon attack.

Aaah the magic of rulings...
Yes, that is a proper weapon: as I said, mount the blade upward on a straight shaft.

But at this point it's closer to D&D's fauchard or glaive than the reaper's scythe
Or a Naginata.
