Luckily, this encounter wasn't necessarily all combat. The wizard had a good search skill and was lookinf for the way out one square at a time. I allowed dungeoneering checks to narrow the possibilities down, too. The cleric was allowed to use his heal skill to remove the paralysis. Both wizard and sorcerer were using knowledge (arcane) to identify magic items in the room, seeing as detect magic wasn't any good in an anti-magic field.
Basically, everyone was doing important stuff.
When it came to the actual fighting, though, you're right - the wizard and the sorcerer weren't that useful. The sorcerer had a bunch of tanglefoot bags and alchemical stuff which he was using to good effect. The cleric had a lot of HP and was helping to soak up the damage from the umber hulk.
