Rather than being hard I simply think a lot of people don't want to bother with learning a new system. There are plenty of people who simply aren't interested in playing something other than the one game they like.

This, pretty much. It may not be hard, but it’s more that zero effort, and why do that when you’re perfectly happy playing the game you know? And especially given there’s no guarantee you’ll like this new game, while you know you’ll like the old one.

So few comments on this much awaited revision to the Warhammer 40,000 RPG. So sad.
All publishers not producing D&D 5th Edition might as well just close shop at this rate.
I love cubicle 7 but I wish they would focus. I am still awaiting my Enemies in Shadows WFRP Supplements that keep getting delayed. I have the PDF of part I but no word on the collectors items books.

I am happy for 40K RPG but I really wish they would have just gotten WFRP Squared away first.

Cubicle 7 is also going through some Consumer Confidence issues. Even before the pandemic they have been late on products. I should have had my Enemy in Shadows books in November.

I don’t imagine the same people are working on each.

100% Truth.

There's no point in being frustrated, or getting wound up in any way about people with this mindset.

For many people "Play RPG" = D&D. Period.

It is just the way a large segment of the RPG hobby has been from the beginning, and it will not change.

I think this one reason why established properties do well, whether that's established gaming settings like 40K or movie properties like Alien. There's some built in quick-start juice for a lot of people. There also only really needs to be one person at the table that knows the rules pretty well, everyone else can be learning on the job. I like to use one-offs and pregens and the like for that to remove the fear of losing a character due to unfamiliarity with the rules.

Exactly.

There are very good reasons why IP like Middle earth, Conan, and star wars Always seem to get new editions.

This is especially notable because those IP seem to be able to sell well independent of the system the current license holder is using.

I feel your pain. My GM Screen for Warhammer Fantasy Role Play 4th Editoin which I pre-ordered since last year since November, has yet to surface.

But a collectors edition of "The Enemy WIthin"? Those were some big bucks, way above my pay grade. ;)
