The Quiklink adaptation is fine but thus far lacking in background material from the Traveller Universe itself. In fact there's next to nothing in the core book. But they now have a "domain" published in PDF, where a domain = 4 sectors = lots & lots of worlds ... as a guide you used to be able to spend an evening hand-generating a subsector, and there are 16 subsectors to a sector.

Actually I just got the advanced copies of the Gateway Domain book in from the printer today. The bulk of the shipment will be arriving in our warehouse on Wednesday (May 12).

T20 is a good blend of classic and D20 rulesets. My biggest issue with the core Traveller's Handbook is lack of support for 3 of the 6 "major" races which dominate the Imperium background. Included are humans, vargr (uplifted wolves) and aslan (lion-like aliens), but not the very alien hiver (much like Niven's puppeteers), k'kree (militant vegetarian centaurs!) and the reptilian droyne.

Hivers, K'kree, and Droyne information for characters is available in the Gateway Domain book.

I'll make my top recommendation Omega World from the Polyhedron side of Dungeon magazine issue 94. It is a brilliant game. Essentially Gamma World d20 done right. Only 43 pages, too. In it, you will find as a DM all the tools you need for a great non-D&D d20 game. It is very easy to make post-apocalyptic adventures with the material presented, particularly if you like any of the prior Gamma World iterations. Perfect for your summer break game.

My second recommendation is Judge Dredd. With the core rulebook and 4 published adventures, you can have a great summer campaign. The modules accomodate variable numbers of players, too.

Otherwise, you might try DragonStar or Spellslinger.

I think that XCrawl is the best structured game for those times when you weren't expecting to get together, or there has been a long break in between your last game and there will be a long break until the next game.

I run XCrawl everytime some friends come to visit from out of town. Everyone is able to get right into character, because each character has the depth of personality of a professional wrestler. The game is all about fun and showmanship, so it's heavy on the action. In addition, players don't have to worry about looting bodies, generating equipment, or any of the other time consuming aspects of the game, that take away from your one short night of gaming. In addition, the core rulebook comes with a Crawl that took my group three visits to finish. Plenty of gaming fun!

trancejeremy's Review of XCrawl Here's a review of the game that describes it much better than I can. I highly recommend checking it out.
