D&D 5E What are the "True Issues" with 5e?

that is a distinct possibility, at no point did I say that everyone would benefit from the rules

we have enough of those, there will be another Xanathar soon enough too. If they put the rules in a different book, that is fine too, it is not having them that I am objecting to
The same things I said about the PHB also apply to splat books like Xanathar's as well. Why include niche rules that most tables won't use, when you could add more subclasses instead.

Niche rules like this are the perfect opportunity for 3PP books. Rules that are only going to appeal to 5% of players are just not worth it for WotC to publish. Their goal is to appeal to as many players as possible with their books, and to leave niche options to third party publishers.

Also, why should the niche rules that you want be included in the rules and not the various other niche rules that other people want? Its not just a matter of adding a few additional pages to the book for expanded equipment rules. Why should they add equipment rules and not additional tactical combat rules, low magic rules, or any others niche rules that other people want?

That's just not how this works: sure, a fe different groups of outlier 5% might be missing thisnor that...but WotC not only doesn't have to service every niche, they cannot.
I did not say they need to service every niche, I said your conclusion to my statement was wrong. I agree that they cannot service every niche.

By getting king the majority of what a majority wants in order to play, they are doing their job.
I agree

And they are the ones in a position to know what people are actually using or asking for.
sounds like 'whatever WotC does is right, who are we to ever doubt them or even make suggestions', and I do not agree with that. That does not mean I expect them to listen to me, heck, I did not even say the majority would want such rules.

So you agree that the designers can't service every niche, but insist that they include the niche rules that you want? What makes the niche rules you want more important that the niche rules that other people want?

Exactly. It's also a sign of a wider problem. People wanting specific, bespoke, niche rules for everything instead of broadly applicable rules to cover wider cases. Something like an extended contest mechanic, like clocks and various ways to use them could be dropping into the PHB or DMG and used for dozens or hundreds of specific cases without trouble. Instead, people seem to want specific rules for Pokemon, sidekicks, crafting, cooking, and harvesting.

no... I am not insisting on them doing it, all I am doing is saying I would like such rules to be included

What makes the niche rules you want more important that the niche rules that other people want?
nothing, but then you already started with a wrong assumption to get here

You're paying too much for the book to begin with. There's so much that's not in the book that you'll have to Google anyway. It's an arbitrary line in the sand. Your line is simply in a different place than mine.

But it really doesn't. Because, importantly, movies...especially action movies...are not trying to simulate real-world physics. If they were, they'd be documentaries instead of action movies...and their audiences would reflect that.

Sure. You do you. But that is how movies work and that is the topic of this tangent, so...

I've found the opposite to be true. When rules exist in a book people have this weird fascination with following them. All of them. To the letter. Considering how terrible most of those rules are, it's far...far easier to make them up yourself. There's an entire RPG scene focused on that, Free Kriegsspiel Renaissance.
Your game may be an action movie, but mine isn't.
