The Str based Barbarian/Fighter/Paladin/Ranger doesn't offer good offense against not too uncommon strafing or flying enemies.the rules are in the PHB
I try to convince the orcs not to attack us.the same way you do, if your players need that explained…
ok, then show me the real world example of a human with 3% orc DNA and go from that oneWait.. we're using the game rules to justify our setting expectations.....
agreed, so are you telling me that the DM has to change the rules to account for that? Does he have to think for the players if they do not find a solution? The Str based Barbarian/Fighter/Paladin/Ranger doesn't offer good offense against not too uncommon strafing or flying enemies.
or he should be more convincing in his arguments instead of relying on the press of a button (roll) like you did here, or have bribed them instead…. plenty of options, none with a guaranteed success, just like in real life you cannot talk your way out of some ‘encounters’I try to convince the orcs not to attack us.
Roll.
10+2 is a 12.
Fail. Roll Initiative.
Guess my PC shouldn''t talk.
I'm not the one who expressed an opinion on what it might be.ok, then show me the real world example of a human with 3% orc DNA and go from that one
I'm saying the game is designed that most non full casters cannot mechanically change tactics.agreed, so are you telling me that the DM has to change the rules to account for that? Does he have to think for the players if they do not find a solution?
None of that is tied to his character that one of his party members cannot do.or he should be more convincing in his arguments instead of relying on the press of a button (roll) like you did here, or have bribed them instead…. plenty of options, none with a guaranteed success, just like in real life you cannot talk your way out of some ‘encounters
since you have no better place to look........ I just can't even...
"A lot of humans have a dash of nonhuman blood, revealing hints of elf, orc, or other lineages" (PHB).since you have no better place to look....
Also, show me where the rules say that this is not a human as we know them...
Switch out sword for bow, maybe you have some magical items that help, find terrain that helps, come up with some good plan that grounds the dragon, have the mage cast Fly on you rather than on themselvesI'm saying the game is designed that most non full casters cannot mechanically change tactics.
only if you relegate everything to a die roll or the player has no ideasNone of that is tied to his character that one of his party members cannot do.
That's the point.
The Player can tune out a scene because he or she cannot contribute in any way differently from another player can except with lower failure.
yeah, if you answer by the book, then my answer by the book is just fine too, not sure why that would work for you but not for me"A lot of humans have a dash of nonhuman blood, revealing hints of elf, orc, or other lineages" (PHB).
