I don't think I'm confident enough to DM (except maybe for a group younger than me). Plus I don't know all the rules well enough. Particularly the magic rules-I've never really made a serious atempt to play a magic using character so I never really put a lot of time into learning them.

I think I'm a better DM and I certainly prefer DMing...I hope so anyway. It's been about 6 years since I was in a campaign as a player, lots of one-shot games though.

I'm a better DM than player -- I warn every group I play with that while I can, yes, roleplay, I've got a short attention span and I like to be the center of attention. ;)

I'd much rather be a god than a pawn.

Cheers
Nell.

back in my 1st ed. d&d and traveller days i was definitely a better dm than player (and more frequently the dm as well). nowadays in 3.5 i feel more confident as a player. alas, i must dm instead as i am the most experienced gamer in my group. thankfully erin (my rules encyclopedia player) is preparing to dm soon. . . .

Other: Better player than DM, and prefer to play, but everybody seems to like my DMing, along with the 'nobody else in the group is as good at it (yet?)' factor.

I've got one of them in training however. We came up with an idea for a campaign to start some time later this year, and he wants to DM it, so he's currently in a state of tutelage.

Probably equal, but maybe a bit better DM -- when I'm not being a pretensious SOB about the "mood" of my homebrew. I definitely enjoy DMing, though.

I'm going with "Don't Know." I've never really had a chance to play and I've only really DMed a few short campaigns (one to 10th level, one stalled at 3rd-4th, and one jumped to around 7th.).

I'm a much better DM than I am a player-- while I'm pretty good at coming up with a character concept, and getting into character, I have a tendency to inadvertently sabotage both the GM's plans and the plans of my fellow players. I add an interesting element to most games I'm in, but it makes it difficult for the game to work out the way anyone (including myself) intends it to.

Luckily, I prefer to GM.
