I'm a better player and I'd prefer to play, but I'm still hands down the best GM for certain sorts of games with people I've played with and up there within the top ten 'good GMs" I've met I think. That being said, my best role as a player is as the 'editing GM' - check stat blocks, redraw the maps, bite my tongue when another player tries to disarm one of the traps I made up as a set of 30 for the other GM, and helping the other players out when they're doing 'player stuff' that I just never quite feel comfortable doing when I'm on the other side of the table. I can never really stop being a GM, but being a player means I suddenly get to focus on a single idea for a single character and actually stop being a horse's behind to my players - 'figure it out yourself, ask someone else because I'm busy, look it up and show my your source.' I hate being that way.
