D&D 5E What character sheet do you use?

What kind of sheet do you use?

I have a lot, depending on the permanence of the character.

It can be anything, like forum samples, official sheets, random pieces of paper, other players, notebook pages, napkins, electronic generators... Basically, whatever suits that character and how long I expect them to last.

I have a pretty formal layout that has been updated from edition to edition but not something worth publishing since it is pretty much just a simple write up of the information instead of a nice looking character sheet. Much of the same type of information is in a similar location in 5e as it was in 2e or 3e (for instance, location of stats, skills, hit points, AC, etc).

I've attached a PDF copy of my last PC if you'd like to have a look at it, it also shows how I list the details for spells on the second page. View attachment 87588

Oh that reminds me. I have a semiformalized format I use when typing up a character sheet in Notepad - yes, Notepad - that has lasted through several editions. The fixed width font and lack of formatting was a feature for me.

It's actually also the same format I use with blank paper and pencil.

Hand written index card is all that is necessary for me.

With 6 players and a DM around a table, there is not a lot of room

I add spell cards as and when and a tiny A7 pad for tracking hit points/spells. With dice and short pencils, everything fits into a pouch that is no bigger than a wallet.

The MPMB sheet can't be beat, with it's editable macros that allow you to adapt pretty much anything in it. Since we use a lot of homebrew and 3rd party material in my game, having the ability to keep the automation but also customize is invaluable.

I use the MPMB sheet, hands down the best I've found. The automation is great and the inclusion of UA material is the cherry on top. I was using the standard, I believe it's called the colorful version, one for a while, but I've recently come to like the cleaner look of the printer friendly version and doubly so since the sheets actually get printed... it saves quite a bit on ink.

Our group has gone green. We either use the Fifth Edition Character Sheet app, or the Squire app. Squire is a lot more fidgety, particularly with equipment, but it seems to manage spells a little bit better. I used to go to game night with a huge bag of books and stuff. Now I just bring my phone.

A few of our DMs that have tablets have used the Fifth Edition DM Tools (mainly for the combat tracker), too.

It was really frustrating to us that there were no good Android apps for Savage Worlds, which we're playing now.
