What did you never like in 3e?

Sure, if you consider "dead" to mean "no longer supported by the original publisher". But I wouldn't call it dead, given the number of players it has.

Also, please don't feed the fire.

It still has players, and is probably the #2 roleplaying system at this time, but the game is in decline right now and for the forseeable future. What is (mostly) dead is the hope that 3E will triumph over 4E. That hope now lies with the OGL.

The best thing about this thread is that 3E fans don't feel compelled to trample all over the thread attacking everyones dislikes or writing paragraphs of fluff to justify some stupid aspect of the game, if only 4E fans coud be more like this...

The difference of course being, in this case, the criticisms are very specific and pretty well known. And, to boot, no one is claiming that 3e sucks because of these criticisms. No one is claiming that 3e is a craptacular, boardgamey, videogamey POS. They are simply listing some pretty well known issues that we've discussed numerous times in the past.

If only the anti-4e crowd could be more like this. :hmm:

Yeah, but as 5E said, there is really no need to fuel the fires. As mentioned, this thread has been going exceptionally well, and there is no need to derail it. Because as you can be sure that comments like yours will derail it.

Cheers!

Rogue/barbs sneak attacking with a greatclub while raging always confused me...

Not that I think the weapon limit of 4e is all that great for sneak attacks, but it just seemed thematically wrong to me, if you know what I mean...

And the fact that nobody noticed epic level play was so completely broken before they published the epic level handbook. I mean, that was so obviously going to be completely messed up from the start that I still can't believe we actually played through so many epic level stuff...

Carrying Capacity and racial paragon levels. I like the idea of racial paragon levels, I just think its flawed to charge a character for an upgrade to their racial abilities by taking a level in a class. It would have worked better as an optional inherent increase and/or expansions to the character's base races abilities based on character level, not class level.

I've already fixed the Carrying Capacity table for Tale of the Twin Suns and I currently have a mechanic for increasing a characters racial abilities called Bloodline Strength. I just need to hammer out and smooth all of the abilities for races that are standard in the Tale.

Despite my list of complaints, I actually like core 3e. It just has some things that I consider faults and am I am willing to admit that they are there. However, the d20STL and OGL allowed third parties to address many of these issues. UA and a couple of house rules fixed most of my other problems.

Yeah, 3e has a large share of flaws, but I still enjoye dplaying it a lot. 4e has it's share of flaws, but we still enjoy playing it a lot...

Most of that is because as a group of friends just hanging out together is already 60% of the fun, the other 40% coming from the game itself...

I too liked 3.5e (I missed 3e altogether) and I could make a equally lengthy list of things that I liked (though some of those things I like conceptually instead of in-game, like the sorcerer). Its just that I like 4e more.
