If memory serves, know alignment was specifically called out in the Conversion Manual as having been eliminated from the game, along with arcane healing spells.

Feign Death lived shortly (heh) in TOME AND BLOOD as a sor/wiz3 spell. Didn't make it into Complete Arcane or Spell Compendium though...
Just the idea of this kinda peeves me off. I thought the Spell Compendium was suipposed to be updating ALL 3.x spells into 3.5 from all reasources.

Maybe WotC missed one, or maybe they just lied. Or maybe i am getting this wrong. Either way, i was gettign the wrong impression about this book.

Other 2e hold-outs that T&B got that never again saw light in 3.5: Filter, Choke, Gaze Screen, Ice Burst, Hide Life, and Chain Contingency.
I think Ice Burst is in the new Spell Compendium as Snowball Swarm... or something similar. I saw it the other day, it's a 2nd level Wizard spell I know...

nope. they listed the specific sources that they used in the book, and on the web.

i got the impression that this was "Vol 1." will there be a Vol 2? maybe...

I actually miss the origional Chromatic orbs also. They were very versatile, even though their damage was piddley.

Another spell that I do miss that was a particular favourite was Lance of Disruption. Can't remember which book it came out of, but it was a 3rd lvl spell that did 5d4 +2hp/lvl (starting 5th lvl, max +30 at 20th) and also had a chance of knocking down opponents struck by th 5' x 30' beam.

(IOW... Duh? Do they hate sorcerers or utility mages or something? What is wrong with having a spell which has more than one possible effect, eh?)

Cheers

There's a method to their madness, I think. If you're going to use 'spells known' as a class balancing tool, you don't want to build spells that are overly broad or efficient in their application, thus giving a spontaneous caster too much 'bang' for his 'buck'.
