What is missing from 4E

One solution I'm considering to just such a problem is to turn the knob one notch up.

At-will powers can be used as basic attacks.
Encounter powers can be used at will.
Daily powers can be used once per encounter.

I'd probably rule that 'daily' powers recharge when you get that rush of adrenaline from battle, so you can't abuse them once every 5 minutes.

Of course, I'd need to turn up the dial a bit on monsters. But just a bit.

Why not get action points involved in it, so you can trigger some powers with action points even if they were already used?

BAM! Stealing this one. Using an action point allows you, in lieu of granting you an extra standard action, to reuse a spent daily or encounter ability.

Yep, this works pretty well- I've been using it for the last three months. The only caveat I added was that refreshing a daily power requires you to spend an action point, and one healing surge per tier of the power (heroic=1 surge, paragon=2 surges, epic=3 surges). So far, its worked out really well, and given another option to players to use.

I miss monster fluff... not powah...

Why don't you just make up the fluff yourself? Is it that god damned hard to use your imagination?

Hell I have my own flying race of Avian creatures in my game. If my players ever battle them they'll probably just be Angels when it comes to stats.

And to you guys complaining about powa!!!, I have no idea what you're talking about. My players are pretty god damned powerful, doing some insane :):):):). And if you want to add some more rituals, go pick up the Spell Compendium from 3.5, let them use it, and modify the prices and :):):):) for 4.0. My one player's wizard has been using it... but only for one thing now that amanuensis is in FR.

You know I'm really tired of "just make it up." becoming the answer to any problem or issue expressed by someone about 4e, and the "imagination jibe" that's just classic.... "missed the point" mentality. If I have the time and inclination, well then it's great if I choose to spend the effort in designing and creating my own fluff.

That said, I didn't spend $30 to $40 so it would be a requirement. I buy supplements because they provide things that I can use without the necessary time and effort to create them myself... I mean am I unimaginative because I bought AV 1 ... instead of creating new weapons, mounts, and alchemy? So how does wanting fluff make someone unimaginative? I look at it as wanting better value for the books I am buying as a consumer. You don't want fluff... great "Just ignore it." is as valid or even moreso than "Just make it up."
