I
Fighter self heals it's MAGICK oh noezzzzzz pardon 5e is not some pristine land of the people who trolled 4e won the entire game... sorry they didnt.
I'm referring to presentation. If you were to describe an effect in the text of the feature, rather than, "as spell x", you have many fewer problems.

That presentation aside : the same mechanics "really are" I think at D&D's abstraction level often just as appropriate for martial effects once you get past the meta elements.

HP is a representation of exhaustion and luck, you don't even show injuries until half HP (the amount that a champion can auto-heal to). Second Wind seems pretty mundane when represented like that to me.

Fight or Flight:
Starting at 10th level you can over-exert yourself to react to even the faintest traces of action. Your weapons count as magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances and immunities. When a ranged attack or spell targets or comes within 5 feet of you while traveling to its destination you may use your reaction to either move up to your speed or parry. Your move is made before the triggering action is resolved but after it has been set into motion. While parrying a ranged attack make an attack roll with a DC equal to attacker's attack roll. While parrying a spell make an attack against the attacker's spell save DC. On a successful parry the attack automatically misses its target or the spell fails to be cast, though it still consumes a spell slot.
You may use this ability a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1) and regain all expended uses on a long rest.

Tried to go for a supernatural feel. Level 10 is arbitrary. I would also consider putting it at level 7 as a single-use and then gaining additional uses at 11th and 15th level. I feel the main weakness of the Fighter in combat is Wall of Force since it's a solid 'no' vs everything martial.

It actually is kind of realistic second wind in real life causes a flood of not just painkillers but stuff which clears the lactic acid removing fatigue side effects and revs up the systems that heal that kind of damage.

I had an idea that plays off of something someone mentioned in PF2 martial types handle the action economy better in this case its about getting more done a fighter able to do an intimidate as an attack would have an incredibly versatile ability ie - not just that singular fear effect any reasonable thing - drop your weapon or I am going to do something obscene with it could in a social environment used on a leader type forstall an unnecessary fight. It seems a 5e way to do things like when a rogue can take a cunning action.

I've seen a book with a really interesting in world spin on it that kind draws on how a calorie is the amount of energy needed to raise 1 gram of water 1 degree C & it was pretty interesting . Yea it used a different term but the concept & usage in the story were exactly the same. "“Degree of power” is the official standard that Magi use to measure the extent of their might. A single unit, as a standard, is equivalent to the energy that can be completely released by 1 gram of magic crystal.""

Sure, but I think getting past those meta elements is a tall order for many people, and presentation can make it harder. Look at 4e.

Superiority Dice? reads like a meta mechanic to me .... it could have been ki acknowledging the relationship in monks deep effort (or even called grit if you want something different or perhaps muscle fatigue :p or heck give it a mental cast as Battle focus ).

Oh I know tell me to make up what that ablative ability is to me, please do.

I think it is far less of a problem than people make it to be.
