That would only count as favorite pre-3e monster(or Diaglo Edition, of course) since Humans aren't in the 3e or 3.5e Monster Manual :p

It said favorite D&D monster, not favorite third edition. :p

Drow Rule!!

Drow! They are just the coolest and most vicious race around. Plus they are buddies with all that is evil, well most of whats evil. I remember running City of the Spider Queen, Boy did my Players despise Tsarina and her Red Dragon companion due to amount of chaos she would cause. Drow Wizards are cool as well as the Drow clerics.

In 3.0 & 3.5? The Aboleth.

I've had lots of fun with them, and nobody ever expects THE ABOLETH!

The flumph, 'cause nobody ever expects THE FLUMPH

I go through phases, the latest of which favours the ratmen from Scarred Lands.

I really, really like Beholders, too. I know they're sort of silly, but I can't help myself. They're alien-looking, they have a lot of frightening abilities. I think it's fun to come up with motivations and personalities for creatures like this (not to mention a lair for a critter that can fly/levitate but has no limbs) because I really let my imagination run with it.

Tiamat is my alltime favorite monster.
I really like kobolds, orcs, bullywugs and kenku also.
My current players have a fear of gricks at the moment.
Skeletons and most of the undead also have a special spot in my "what monster to use" list :D

Megaweasel!

My all-time favorite monster in D&D is the Aurumvorax. The one and only time I ever DMed a game was a 2e game, and I killed half the party with a single Aurumvorax. Plus the whole idea of an eight-legged weasel with metal bones is just to absurd and bizarre for me not to like it.

I came into this thread with really no idea what to answer.

But after reading the one vote for dragon, I have to concur.

A dragon encounter is always good, from either side of the screen.
