D&D General What is your favorite Fighting Style in 5e?

For those who have played or will be playing a martial character with access to a Fighting Style, what would you consider to be your favorite Fighting Style in 5e?

Mine would have to be Two-Weapon Fighting (aka Dual Wielding). I have liked it since 3e. It wasn't the amount of damage you could do per round that made it attractive to me (though that is a definitive plus during combat). I think I was attracted to it after watching certain characters on TV making use of it. Like Ahsako Tano and Darth Maul in Star Wars.

When I started playing 5e, it was the Fighting Style I chose for my first 5e character even though it had a drawback when it came to sharing the bonus action with other bonus action required features. I eventually came across a homebrewed version of Two-Weapon Fighting that fixed that problem IMO.

Since then, I have tried out the Archery Fighting Style and will be trying out the Thrown Weapon Fighting Style with my next character.

I have two that are about equal, depending on my character concept.

1) Blind Fighting, being able to see anything, including invisible creatures who are within 10 feet of you, unless hidden, is fantastic. Human in total darkness? No problem! Well, less problem. Things 30 feet away from you in darkness shooting bows are still a problem.

2) Great Weapon Fighting. Where you like two weapons, I've always liked honking big weapons to pound you into dust or chop you little pieces, depending on the weapon.

It really just depends on the character concept or the setting.

I did theory-build my next PC up a few levels to just test out some abilities, and man, great weapon fighting is great. Dropping 100 dmg in a nova turn with a lvl 6 Barb/lvl 4 Fighter build sounds fun, but that's in a vacuum, making decisions that I might not make when I reach those levels.

I really like Protection as one of only two support styles, Interception being the other. It easily beats +1 AC in my mind. By taking it, though, you do leave significant damage on the table.

Never can go wrong with a +1 to AC. Don't know how many times I say, does a 16 hit and the player is all no- I'm an 17. Cheers all around.

Depends on the class:

For fighters, Superior Technique - more toys to play with. Even good with the Battlemaster subclass (although you run out of worthwhile maneuvers quickly, more dice is better.)

For paladins, Defense, though next time I might take Intercept. 2014 Protection is just too wonky to be very useful.

For rangers, I'm not sure. Blind Fighting is very tempting, and of course the classics of archery or two-weapon fighting.

I tend to do fighter rogue types so either two weapon fighting or dueling. Some of the shield based ones for a warrior type without too many reactions.

Protection, 100%. Though when Interception came into being, I started using that more.
