Mini Eyes
I paint minis for table use at games, not for shows and such, so this might not work for you. But, I get *great* results with doing eyes using Micron pens. I just paint the whites in-- usually easy following the mini's outline, then add the iris with a dot from a Micron pen. Easy-peasy. And, it is really easy to add directional views, which can be a cool effect; like, I might place the irises in the upper right-hand corner for an archer mini, so that he is looking off in the distance. Much easier to pull that off with a pen instead of brush IMO.
