What powers do Jedi and Sith actually have?

it's "official" and not "canon", but i really like the way that they treat force powers in "Jedi Academy".

there are three divisions of powers: light (healing, protection, mind trick and force absorbtion), neutral (light saber use, jump, speed, push and pull) and dark (force grip, force lightning, force drain, and force rage).

some of these are purely for good gaming, but the great touch is that ALL force powers are open to EVERYONE. early on, the game makes the clear distinction that powers are tools: in and of themselves they are not good or evil, it's how one uses them.

this way, the system does a good job of both 1) making an interesting and very playable game in which the player's choices concretely affect the story arc, but also 2) it still reflects the star wars universe quite well (someone already mentioned luke's use of force grip.)

in "empire", yoda tells luke that the dark side isn't stronger, just faster "more seductive"; and much more dangerous. so, it's not really a question of which pozers one has access to, but how one gains access to them and how one employs them.
