I cannot imagine there's even 1% of the US/Canada population born after 2000 who could identify Flash Gordon in a line-up. I'm not sure why anyone would be creating a new RPG based around the property today.
Funno about sn RPG, but they are currently trying to bring Flash Gordon back:

"Mad Cave Studios also announced plans to introduce younger readers to Flash Gordon through the company’s middle-grade imprint, Papercutz."

Whizbang Dustyboots

Gnometown Hero
The comic strip has just been rebooted.
Is the audience for comic strips younger than 45 nowadays?

I think Flash Gordon and the sub-genre he represents is fun, but it is a brand that appeals to a very old demographic at this point. I have a hard time picturing anyone making their licensing fees back on it. Better would be to crowdfund a Flash Gordon game with all the IP filed off, I suspect.

Scholastic (along with Viz) is a bigger comic publisher then DC and Marvel.

I post a link if I wasn't on phone.
