Human wizard for the extra feat and skill points. Took the UA option of swapping metamagic feats for fighter feats, so he could master the quarterstaff. (It's a character concept choice, not a powergaming ploy.) And another UA "specialist" option for diviner.

In most campaigns, the wizard has invariably been human. In the Warcraft campaign, we've briefly had an elven wizard. Considering that Warcraft elves are addicted to magic, the term "high elf" takes on a whole new meaning.

My face-to-face game had no wizard for a while, then had a human necromancer for a bit, hinted at having a sun elf diviner (which actually turned out to be a human bard in disguise), and now has a psuedodragon illusionist cohort.

My PbeM game has a straight gnome illusionist and a multiclassed human wizard/cleric.

The wizard in the 3.5 Realms campaign I run is a Wizard (Enchanter) 11, and most of the party is elves, more or less:

Elf (Moon)/Half-Dragon, Druid (Rillithane Ralthiel)
Elf (Sun), Wizard (Enchanter)
Elf (Wild), Fighter/Order of the Bow Initiate
Half-Elf Monk
Half-Elf Fighter/Bard/Harper Agent
Human Cleric (Selune)/Ranger
Human Paladin (Ilmater)/Purple Dragon Knight

So there is plenty of Elven blood in my group, not for any power reason (well, the Sun Elf Enchanter was because they get an Int bonus), but that's what they wanted to play.

I'm in three campaigns:

In Campaigns A and B (both Forgotten Realms), the wizards are both Fire Genasi.

In Campaign C (a homebrew), the primary wizard is human.

No wizard in our current campaign, but a halfling sorcerer.

In a previous game there was a human wizard.

In a game before that we had a gnome wizard/rogue/arcane trickster.

Playing since 3.0 came out there have been no elves chosen, though.

In our current campaign we have a gold elf wizard 10, with ungodly Intelligence (29, 31 for determining bonus spells (via Spellcasting Prodigy feat). His other stats are unusual for an elf, Dex 10, Con 13 (17 with a magic item).

So far, since we switched to 3/3.5 in 2001, we've had:
  • one dwarf wizard
  • one halfling rogue/wizard
  • two tiefling wizards
  • one dark elf wizard
  • one human rogue/wizard (abjurer, IIRC)

I seem to recall one moon elf wizard as well, but I really can't say whether that was back in 2e or in 3e...
