What rocks on Xbox?

It's very fun, but the Career mode is rather short. The longevity comes from the multiplayer goodness.

Buffy so far is pretty sweet. Getting to the annoying molotov cocktail vampires and having a tough time licking em.

Played BG: DA with daughter... she loves it. It's the D&D game we've never gotten to run for her (she insists on having more players for a tabletop game).

Well you know what DA is like so I'll mention that the PC BG games are traditional PC RPG's, as opposed to the action game that DA is.

Ok...

Here's my game library for the foreseeable future:

Jet Set Radio Future and Sega GT: came with the Xbox. Not too wild about SGT, as I don't know how to play racing games effectively.

Halo: Paid full price for it ($49.99), as I enjoyed it that much when playing with a friend at his pad.

Buffy TVS: Got it for $18.99. The one I'm playing right now. A lot of fun, and full of fan injokes and homage type stuff. It may be a little short, I don't know.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance: $18.99 at Costco - got it for my daughter as part of her birthday present. It's mindless fun for the two of us, and we get to play together. Cool.

Mechassault: I saw it at Blockbuster, brand new and still wrappped, for $20. I'm a mecha guy, so I got it. Blockbuster has a few new games at cheap prices...

I go back the next day and see:

Metal Gear Solid: Substance - New, for $20. I liked MGS a fair bit, so after reading some reviews, I get it. Good deal!

Morrowind: My daughter plays this at mom's house, and I've seen it there when I've gone over to play Halo. I saw it used at Blockbuster for $24, so I had the clerk pop them all open and I bought the best looking one. Looks good.

That's what I've got now. I soooo need to stop spending money for a bit...

Ok, just beat Buffy. A bit short, but the arena-bug will be fun to mess with and give it some lasting appeal. The Dreamer's Realm was a pain. I look forward to a sequel.

My daughter has soundly trounced me in Mechassault. I really need to get the Xbox live kit. Wish it was cheaper...

I bought a game for $15 called Gunvalkyrie. In theory I like it, though the controls take a lot of getting used to. I just wish I could play it at the same level of excellence as the demo movies that run if you let the title screen idle...

Hm, any other Xbox picks? I'm still waiting for a good fighter to be released, like Soul Caliber. Maybe I'll crack and get Bloody Roar or DOA3.

DOA3, I have said it before and will do so again, rocks. It is well worth the price. It's not the pure T&A game some people try to make it out to be... It's actualy a very good fighter.

Bloody Road is, IMHO, not.

Bloody Roar is basically a nostalgia buy.

DOA3 is the one where you can punch your foe through a window or off a cliff and jump after them, right?

Man, I need a low-personal investment game... no big RPGs anymore.

And bounce 'em off trees, pin 'em against corners, slam 'em into electrified fences, slam 'em clear through rock and ice pillars, make unwilling snow or sand angels out of them, and with some luck, even get a cocnut to fall on their head when you slam 'em into a palm tree.

It's also the game where you can win a match, with a perfect health bar, and never throw a single punch or kick... all by catching the attacks they throw at you and using them against them. It's tricky, but you can do it.

I've yet to find a better way to break a new player into that game than just letting them try to hit me for a while... Before they realize that unles they actualy put some thought into it, I can counter their moves with near-perfect accuracy, it's kinda funny to watch them just go "Buhhh... huh?" when they go down without me ever attacking them. *evil laugh*
