What RPG's do you want to talk about?

Seeing as my group just started a Savage Worlds pulp sci-fi campaign, and we're considering converting one or two halted D&D campaigns to the system, I'd like more talk about... wait for it... Savage Worlds!

Hearing more about FATE-based games, Burning Wheel, and Mouse Guard (solely because of its adorability) would be cool, too.

Like I posted earlier, I am very interested in Soloman Kane, I own the main book, bought but returned the second "scenario" book, as I was not impressed by it.

Plus I have played a couple of Con games based on Savage Worlds, such as that one that is essentially Flash Gordon. One of the reasons I like it is due to its mechanical similarities to the CORTEX system used by Margaret Weiss and company for Serentiy, etc.. Not identical, but highly similar.

I can definitely talk Dresden Files! Any particular topic of interest to you? I pretty much have the books and only played a couple of convention scenarios, but I am looking to run it some time soon as well, so happy to discuss and learn more about it.

I pretty much do not do White Wolf titles, so not much help there....

Don't know about it in any detail. Heard lots in general. Best features? E.g. any mechanic, monster, ability, advancement options that make you want to play?

If you post they will come.

And if they don't come then maybe post elsewhere. I do not k now most of the smaller games out there and have no one to play them with even if I did, so I generally ignore those threads, unless I read a bit about it to find out what the game is about.

So I am not your target audience. But I am sure there are people who are.

I've never picked up any exclusionary vibe from EN World. When people post about games other than the most popular options, I've never seen anyone tell them to take their posts down or take the discussion elsewhere or anything like that. I sometimes check out threads about those games, just because I'm curious to learn more about them.

However, I think there are just a lot more people who play D&D and Pathfinder, so there will naturally be more traffic on posts about those games. I'd be a total interloper if I posted about a game other than D&D4e because it's the only game I really know much about.

I'm glad that people discuss other games, and I officially encourage it! But I get the impression that the number of people who play other games is just significantly lower than the number who play D&D and Pathfinder, so there's naturally less discussion of those games.

At the moment I'm playing in a 3.5 game, which is nearly at an end.

After that I'm hoping to run either Apocalypse World or Burning Wheel, depending on what people go for (or indeed if they go for), with maybe a one-shot of Dread or Lady Blackbird to get into the collaborative spirit.

Love the FATE system as well, but at the moment I've got more of a hankering to try Diaspora, with an old-school Traveller vibe, rather than play Dresden Files.

Anyone played Trail of Cthulhu?

The three games that are getting the most love from me right now are Savage Worlds, Old School Hack and Fiasco. Each suits a slight different need but I'd say I'm definitely trending toward "rules lite" lately.

There are a number of things that attract me to FATE.

The biggest are probably how FATE points are used/implemented, by spending them to tap into one of your (Probably not using the system accurate term here) "qualities". Depending on the game parameters you can have anywhere from 0 to 10 of these, and these can be used via spending a FATE point to gain yourself a +2 to your roll, or a reroll, and one or two other things I am blanking on right now. (Probably should pull the books out and read the darn things while doing this!)

Plus the GM can also use these "qualities" against you, forcing you to spend a FATE point to ignore it, or accept it and you earn a extra FATE point for doing so. This allows for characters like Harry Dresden to earn up enough FATE points to really tap into his more powerful abilities.

Its really hard to explain, definitely a game to sit down and play in order to really see how it comes together for this surprisingly cool shared role play experience. It is a shared role play, because when you do tap into these things I have been calling qualities you also have to give a good role play based explanation as to why you should be able to get the benefit.

So a very worthwhile system to try out.

Yes! Now we only need to start numerous robust discussions about them!
Well, as an addendum to the thread I linked, I started running a Flashing Blades campaign, which is going well, and a Top Secret play-by-post campaign which died on the vine but which I hope to resurrect as a face-to-face game.

I'm also going to run a Boot Hill one-shot at a con this summer.

Now the reality is, I could probably start a thread on ENWorld every week about each of these three games - Flashing Blades, Top Secret, and Boot Hill - and not generate twenty replies between them. That's why I tend toward threads which discuss more general topics in roleplaying - I can still work in discussion of these games in the context of a larger theme.

For more specific feedback on these games, FB I usually discuss on the Yahoo group for the game; BH and TS are usually relegated to the 'old school' forums on sites like Dragonsfoot or Knights and Knaves.

Thanks for that - ever since I started playing ICONS (a FATE-influenced game) supers, I've become more interested in learning about and trying out FATE. In fact, I bought a PDF copy of Spirit of the Century when it was on sale awhile back for five bucks, and got a PDF copy of Starblazer Adventures in a charity bundle, so it might be time to really dig in.

Ahem, you know, Mr. Moderator (rawr), there seems to be a lot of SW players on here these days. Yet there is no SW post tag...
