What RPG's do you want to talk about?

I'll be blunt - I do not like Cortex at all. But best of time to you for Soloman Kane. I just picked up and expansion for it.

Cortex doesn't look bad to me once you get past the original Serenity game book. Big Damn Heroes seemed to fix it and some of the later games seems to be better done. My issue though, with BDH, was them asking people to pay for what I felt was errata and content that belonged in the main book- and for a hefty price at that.

Now, Cortex + does nothing for me which sucks because I love Leverage. However, someone did a nice little Savage Worlds Leverage.

I just did the CORTEX book, none of the licensed games. Did our own thing with it. CORTEX+ is out?

The Cortex book , if I recall correctly, came out rigt before or right after Supernatural. It has all of the fixes

As mentioned above, not as a stand alone. Both Leverage and Smallville are Cortex+ games. Each is its own variation of Cortex drawing mechanics and philosophy from indie/Forge games (which I tend to dislike).

Leverage is much closer to traditional Cortex in that it keeps the abilities. However, it does away with the skills and replaces them with five roles. Characters have ratings in the various roles. So, it is like having ninja +4 and bard +3 in some indie games.

Smallville does away with ability scores and skills completely. Instead you are rated on values: Duty, Glory, Justice, Love, Power, Truth and relationship die ratings for each PC. Developing the relationship web takes up a lot of character generation.
The game is influenced by Primetime Adventures and several indie/Forge games and Cam brought in developers from PA and other games to help develop it. I despised PA and, while I find a couple of Smallville's mechanics intriguing, I don't think very highly of it either. I think it is a RPG.net darling and overrated over there. I wish Cam would stop trying to be gimmicky with the system under Cortex+ and go back to using classic Cortex. The relationship die could have worked with it as a bonus die in appropriate situations.

I've been rocking Apocalypse World lately, and even ran it at a local convention.

I've ran Mouse Guard and would love to play it.

I've ran Dogs in the Vineyard, and would love to run it with the right group.

I've played Freemarket, and would love to run it with the right group.

I've never played Burning Empires but would love to try it out as either a player or as a GM.

Huh. Seems like I'm all about the indie games lately...

I picked up some Apocalypse World sounding stuff from drivethrurpg fund raisers, not sure if it is the same as what your talking about. Got a link so I can see if it is the same?

As you probably know, I have played Mouse Guard. How can I find the Freemarket game your talking about?

Also, anyone around here play Wild Talents 2E?

I'm waiting for a stand alone, I'm not interested in those RPG's, meaning their story premise, nor do I want to take the time to pull the rules out of them. So I hope they still plan on doing the stand alone "tool box" approach I have read them talking about.

If not I am still more than happy working with the original CORTEX stand alone rules.

For Apoc World, here is the official-but-not-so-very-descriptive website: Apocalypse World
or maybe try rpggeek's page:
Apocalypse World | RPG | RPGGeek

And here is Luke Crane's page for Freemarket:
Project Donut

I've run over a dozen sessions for Apocalypse World, and I have played three sessions of Freemarket, so if you have questions, I can answer to the best of my ability.

Savage Worlds. I just learned the system and having a great time. Just finished my Shadowrun conversion and looking forward to trying it this weekend.
