D&D 5E What Subclasses would you like to see?

Well, everything from Al-Quadim, but to be more specific

I'd like to see:

Bard
  • Sha'ir (Genie based) variant, everyone seems to want that off of Warlock, but I think Bard is closer to the original fit. If you build it so it could either be Fae or Genie based and then you get True Thomas so much the better.
  • Divine based Bard - Either a Chorister or a Muse-Driven variant
  • Courtier - Lots of poison, disguise, etiquette, and truth seeing
  • Sophist/Riddle Master (though, y'know, it might be more interesting to see this with sorceror, just someone who charisma-ed themselves into a weird space magic-wise)
  • Herald/Messenger/Merchant - Very travel themed, highly versed in the law, knows how to work the dignity angle
Monk
  • Old Republic Style Jedi - Some mental powers, tons of flipping around with a ki powered sword
  • Bene Gesserit Truth Speaker - Voice powers, weirding way, the works
  • Drunken Master
  • Avenger/Dervish (though you could go with a divine themed Barbarian for that too)
Etc
  • Invoker
  • Partial Transformation Themed Barbarian or Druid
  • Bomb Throwing Skirmisher Type (Rogue or Ranger would fit)
  • Akashic/Adventure Academic
  • Rune Priest
  • Delver/Sapper

In the vein of Morrus's "What Feats are missing?" thread, I'd like to get a feel for what subclasses people might like to see.

Well, aside from bringing forward my attempts to "fix" 3.X and 4e, the majority of my 5e homebrew and house rules have been conversions of 3.X material, and that's been feat-based so far.

As for subclasses I am working on, or would like to see:

  • Fighter (Swashbuckler)
  • Fighter (Gunslinger) or firearms support for Battlemaster.
  • Barbarian (Bear Warrior)
  • More Sorcerer bloodlines
  • More Warlock pacts, especially Celestial.

OOC, why? Don't like the path of the ideas? Or because you're happy to use the homebrew stuff already being made?

Honestly, I just get the slight uneasy feeling of game bloat when I see this many - and quite a lot of the ideas don’t really seem that ‘archetypal’ to me - more ‘prestige class’-like.

Like the Assassin, Eldritch Knight, Arcane Trickster, Loremaster, and Dragon Disciple? :p

Assassins are pretty archetypal. The magic using Fighters and Rogues are just for the spell casting option being near universal amongst all classes. The Loremaster and Dragon Disciple…..are they actually there in 5E?

Anyway……..yer…scrap em all!! :-S
