What was the title of that B grade kung fu flick?

My son and I have been watching "The Last Airbender" on DVD, and the special features section of the first volume talks about the different real world martial arts styles on which the different bending styles are based. The air bending style--whose name escapes me right at the moment--seems to be like the one you describe for the third of the originally-wimpy martial-arts students. Not horribly relevant to the post, but an interesting thing to check out, if you get a moment. :)

Many, MANY thanks Relique.

Wow ... what a great name!

No prob.. hehe.. you might like one of the other names I found for it "Dai-Si-Jo" translation: two-sectioned big stick. According to one story, this weapon was originally created when Emperor Chao Hong-Yin ordered a blacksmith to peice together his favorite staff which was broken during a fight against bandits.

Well ... it looks like the Chang-xiao-bang or Dai-si-jo would be the specific weapon. It has two sections.

Here is a link on a little bit of the history associated with it:

The Sam-jit-gwun is a another weapon; a three sectioned staff!

Kinda interesting actually. Would love to see it put into DnD terms with all kinda feats for it ... (both the two and three sectioned staff) ... even a prestige class with special abilities as you increase in level too, eh?

Edit: Actually, a decided to start a thread on this in enworld. Here is the link:
