What would you like to see WotC publish next?

Hmmm...maybe a sha'ir base class will find its way into Sandstorm. Alternatively, has anyone modeled a sha'ir using existing rules from WOTC, D20, OGL maerial?

IIRC, the Dragon magazine dedicated to old 2e settings had a sha'ir class as the Al-Qadim article. IIRC, they were basically sorcerers who could swap out their spells known using their "fetch spells" ability.

Races of the Horde

Underdark's already been done as an FR supplement. There's even a footnote on how the material can be used in other settings. I'm mystified as to why it wasn't released as a non-setting specific book - it probably would've sold better that way.

I think swamp, jungle, and forest could be combined in one "woodlands" book.

I'm all for the "Races of the Horde" idea, though. As long they include my favorite race, half-ogres:).

I'd like to see a few things:
  • A Greyhawk Campaign Setting hardcover, so you people will just shut up.
  • An entry in the race series for the most common monstrous beings - goblins, orcs, and so on. This could include planetouched, perhaps, though that's a difficult conceptual fit. It would be nice, though, to get the "core" (I won't say "official") Third Edition take on these creatures to the extent that the series has done so far. Races of Variety? Races of the Margins? :uhoh:
  • An entry in the creature series on outsiders or two on fiends and celestials; unfortunately, I suspect that Wizards would consider this to overlap too much with the Book of Vile Darkness and the Book of Exalted Deeds. On the other hand, a single volume devoted to all kinds of outsiders would overlap less.
  • A few entries in the genre series: Swashbuckling Adventures, Horror Adventures, Political Adventures, blah blah blah. Good genres.

Adventures for me. You can never get enough adventures. Mostly, I write my own stuff, but it's fun to throw in something else sometimes, whether that's a whole module, or just parts of it.

(snip)
It's not that Wotc isn't listening; its that they just don't care! You need GH material? I'm sure Wotc would be more than happy to point you to Living GH...
(snip)

I asked the WotC reps at the Q&A session last GenCon about a Greyhawk setting book. The official answer is "We don't want to step on the toes of Living Greyhawk, so not in the foreseeable future"... meaning that if you don't play LG, you're SOL. I realize they want the people who write and play LG to have control of the meta-plots and what not, but a source-book would be as much use to them as it would be to the rest of us.

As a lifelong Greyhawk player and an ardent devotee of FR-apathy, I would probably dissolve into a fit of geek giggles and snorts the minute a Greyhawk setting HC was released, but it won't be happening anytime soon. Oh well, at least I have Eric Mona's exceptional 3.0 Gazetteer...

And to bring this post back on subject:

An Ooze book would be lovely.
A temperate regions environmental book.
A dungeons environmental book.
A HC source-book for the Hades/Abyss and Demons/Devils
And, of course, a LG HC...

Greyhawk Revisited (the whole updated history from EGG/Kuntz to pre War to LGJ and then some)

Spelljammer Revisited (because its a darn cool idea, long live the Phlogiston!)

Sigil/Planescape Revisited (INCLUDING MODRONS) because the current Planar Sourcebooks are too laughable to be taken seriously

And then I'd like to see some new product no one would expect. Something where everyone would think "Wow, why didn't we think about THAT one before..."

At the risk of diverting the thread, what do those who want a new World of Greyhawk hardback want to be in it that isn't in the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer? The setting doesn't require any extra rules content. Is the point just to have a Greyhawk book on the shelf? There's some value in that, but I can't see how it would do much good in the long term without (a) somehow appealing to all the dispersed Greyhawk factions and (b) starting a new, serious product line, which is not in the cards in terms of WotC's commercial strategy, plus no one at Wizards has the enthusiasm for the WoG to carry it out.

They should do Undermountain this way.
The World's Largest Dungeon has already come out ahead of Castle Zagyg due to the sloth of publishers in volunteering to put out that mother and father of all dungeons -- and it's equally irresponsible of WotC to sit on the Undermountai property and not publish it.

A slick and smooth book for naval combat that does not make it a "game within the game".

Maybe a splat book for Yugoloths. Angels, Devils and Demons seem to get all the "press". Let's not forget Gehenna and Hades! :D

Some fluff books for the planes. Manual of the Planes is "ok", but I was hoping for something with more hooks on the outer planes. In MotP, most of hte outer planes have only about 2-3 pages specifically dedicated to each. I ended up getting a lot of my material from Li-Po's Guide to... website (excellent, IMHO).

As good as the Gazetteer is, there are huge portions of Oreth, both historically and geographically, that it didn't cover.

And to keep this post on topic:
I'd love to see an Elements book, a sourcebook for elemental spells, creatures, classes, creatures and planes...I suspect that it would overlap too much with existing/planned products, though

I would like to see some more books in the Campaign Options line. Specifically revisions of Arabian Adventures, Dark Sun and Planescape. It is not likely to happen though :( It could also be nice to see a renaissance or later setting. Either based on Europe or the new world.

I would also like to see new adventures. I would like them to distance themselves from traditional dungeon crawls and concentrate more on plot and story than on loot and kewl creatures. I would very much like to see a large-scale mystery adventure, with focus on roleplaying, rather than the slaying of monsters. It should preferably be generic, as I play neither FR nor Eberron.
