Wheel of Time Discussion [spoilers are inevitable, fans only please]

I'd love to get a WoT discussion going on these boards without the inevitable 'jordan suxxors' trolls, hence the subject heading.

My current thoughts center around:

the seige of the white tower

mat's role in making the seanchan bow to rand

rand's cleansing of the taint and its retroactive effect upon the madness and the Ways

the actual amount of surviving forsaken, including those in new bodies

is Morraine alive?

when were we going to deal with the tower of ghenji?

is anyone else sick of perrin (but not faile... never faile :) )

am I the only person who actually enjoyed path of daggers?

that's enough for now. it ought to give you people something to discuss, provided this thread doesn't turn into yet another 'i hate rj and wot sucks' thread. Sigh.

I am not that far into the series but I actually like Perrin. I can't stand Faille. I won't rant against anything cause you asked so nice.

I like perrin in the earlier books, but his brooding gets on my nerves after a while. As for faile, I think she's great. I love the image of the strong-willed woman tossing daggers about. Probably the same reason I like Min.

My biggest problem with Perrin is just that he takes himself too seriously. I mean, Rand has ample reason to mope. He's literally got the fate of the entire world on his shoulders. Perrin though... he's just not important enough to warrant all the heavy-handed doldrums.

Thanks for not ranting :)

Perrin is actually one of my faves, yeah so he's a mope'n type of guy but still the whole wolf brother thing is awesome.

Faille I Like she is one sassy lady that is for sure. And I have to say if I bumped into her real life counterpart I would probably head the other way. Who could blame me two hours with a woman that strong personality wise and I'd have a headache not to mention an inferiority complex.

Honorable mentions.

Min, Mat, and Lan though his whole romantic thing with Nynaeve is annoying.

I think that R. J. hints that Morraine is alive and we can at least assume that Lanfear made it out with a new body

I love Aviendha's character and Elayne too though her princess want it now attitude gets annoying

Oh and as for which books I enjoyed ( I know them by numbers only though 8 is path of daggers)

I liked 1-4 Disliked 5 thought 6, and 7 were ok and Liked 8-9

I just thought that while I am typing another of are fellow fans, a friend of mine got hit by a car on monday and I want to ask that everyone give him prayers or wishes or what ever you feel like doing. He is in serious condition with a bad concussion, both legs broken one knee pulverized. and some damage to his liver. He is only 19 years old, a fellow Gamer, and WoT reader with ambitions to join the Navy in the service of his country. I have been crying for him, and there to hold his hand, and with just a little more luck he should get through the dangerous part and be able to walk come this time next year.

You know, I always wondered about the prophecy (by the Aelfinn?) that Mat would 'give up half the light of the world to save it', Min's visions of a one-eyed Mat (did she have this, or am I misremembering...series too long...), etc... could the eye he'll lose be not his physical eye, but his anti-magic medallion, whose powers emanate from its eye? That was given him by the Aelfinn - I could see them taking it back when he, Thom and Perrin go into the Tower of Ghenjei to save Moiraine...

BTW, I'm naming one of my daughters Moiraine. ;)

could the eye [Mat]'ll lose be not his physical eye, but his anti-magic medallion, whose powers emanate from its eye?

I suppose it's possible, but it seems kind of like a cop-out.

Besides, Mat needs the one-eyed look to complete his Odin routine (Hanging from the Tree, the spear, association with ravens, "thought" and "memory", general trickster persona, etc.)

I think that Mat is indeed going to lose one of his physical eyes... but I don't think he's going to be a part of the expedition to save moiraine.

It's been my contention for a long time that Thom is going to be the one to rescue her, sparking a latent love interest that's already been hinted at a few times.

Perrin might go with him, but I think it'll be to go kick the slayer's butt rather than to retrieve Moiraine (who he never really liked... at all).

BTW, good call with the Odin thing. I hadn't noticed that yet :)

I thought it was music, fire (light) and iron?

Good call though... I guess I hadn't put as much thought into it. It makes perfect sense now... 3 things that you can't bring in, 3 people using those things to kick their butts.

Nice :)
