I'm in the same boat as DKUK...1980, age 10.

Four 5th graders playing with one of our older brother's rulebooks (original AD&D). We barely understood the rules, but we had a blast.

I still remember spending my 6th grade year going through as much as I could of the 'recommended reading' list from the old DMG.

I was first introduced to OD&D when I was 9 or 10 in the early 1980's. Played off and on util I reached University in 1990. Then DMed a large AD&D 2e campaign for two years. When that ended and the group broke up, I went on to play a couple of other systems, mainly GURPS. Again it was off and on.

Then D&D 3e came around and I was back into D&D stuff. Ran two campaigns so far. Started to PbP here on the boards recently. Still learning and still having fun.

Oh by the way, I'm 31 now.

Guillaume, my hubby, introduced me to the game about four years ago, I was 22 at the time and starting my master's. I had the usual prejudices about the game, having absolutely no idea what it was like. I rapidly took a liking to the game and am now hooked :D, especially since 3e came out. Since we keep moving from one end of the province to the other every few year, it's been difficult to keep a campaign going. Thank goodness for PbP :D.

Oh, thank god there are some other old cooties on this board. Now I don't feel so bad... :D

My first game was on.. oh, let's see... June somethingoranother, 1980 at about 12:10 PM (got invited to a lunchbreak game on a friend's birthday). I was 9 years old at the time and got killed by a Type V Demon in the first 5 minutes! (I remember the monster card... ;) )

Never looked back...

Cheers,

A'koss.

Getting very close to my Silver Anniversary as well. Began in 1980 with my 15th birthday and the old Basic set with the mage, fighter, and dragon on the cover. Gamed all the way through 1e, then moved on to Rolemaster/Merp when the 2e came out.

Gave up PnP RPGs around 92 due to wine, women, song, and computer RPGs (ah, Wasteland, Starflight, and the gold box games, how I remember thee fondly...)

Slowly regained my legs after finding the Traveller Mailing List in 1996 and getting back into a bit of sci fi gaming. Then picked up the D&D books again after thumbing through them in my FLGS after 3e came out, and have been quite happily scaring my players pantsless with kobolds again ever since :)

/em gnarlo!

Started at the age of 16 with 6 others when a friend of ours came back from the US with a D&D set... been hooked ever since . :D

Now I'm 27 and still gaming strong (there is even one of those other beginners still in my gaming group !)

I was a tween, 11 years old, though I did play a couple times when I was 9. I am now 30. Pretty much continuous, give or take a few months here and there.

G'day

I started about this time of year in 1980, then aged 15. I have been playing pretty steadily ever since, though just at the moment I'm in a dry patch (see .sig).

Regards,

Agback
