When Morale Bonuses Stack

two

First Post
Ok this is the situation.

Don't ask how (I am sure you can think of a few ways) but anyway --

1) PC#1 has +2 to all will saves (morale bonus).
2) PC#1 has +3 to all fear saves (morale bonus).
3) PC#1 must make a will save vs. a fear effect.

What's PC#1's total morale bonus vs. fear?

Is it:

a) +3 (higher of two morale bonuses)
b) +5 (one is a morale bonus to all will saves, the other to fear saves, they stack)

And somebody give me props for not using the quasi-latinate plural "boni" which is just obnoxious.

+3.

And you're right, "boni" is only a word if you're talking about Cher's ex-husband and that pretentious dude from U2.

Actually boni is the real word, bonuses is just another American crime against historic languages ;)

Do I *AGAIN* have to remind *EVERYONE* that the *PLURAL* of *BONUS* is *BONAE*, and the *PLURAL* OF *FORA* IS *FORAE*???/

*HONG* "*TRANSPLANTING* *MEMES* for *FUN* and *PROFIT*" *OOI*

Hi!
Don't know fer sure, what hongi do all they day, but fer sure not stating the correct "pluralis" of "bonus" or "forum" :heh:

If you talk about the noun "bonus", it's: "bonum, boni" [neutrum]; [4.] "advantage" as in "in bonum vetere".

If you talk about the noun "forum", it's: "forum, fori" [neutrum]; [1.] "market place, public meeting point" as in "in foro versari".

Sic transit gloria mundi :D

Kind refreshings

Well, what you are asking is, basically, if a bonus to a fear save is something different than a bonus to a will save.

It is, obviously, but it's just a limited form of a bonus to will save. Since it's also a bonus to will save, it doesn't stack with another bonus (with the same name) to will save. Only the highest applicable bonus to will save applies. In this situation, there are two, which could apply, so only the +3 is used.

Bye
Thanee
