[Where do I find...] Source Control Website

First Post
Hello, I am looking for a website that will allow me to house my source code, for a program I am developing.

I know of sourceforge.net, but I don't care much for that site. Does anyone know of another site I can register with, in order to do this?

Your own website maybe?

Or am I missing something fundamental here in what you want to do... I mean, uploading a textfile for others to look at isn't exactly high tech?

For version controlling, like Sourceforge. Upload my project and files, keep track of bugs, keep track of versions. It is also good for collaborating with multiple developers who don't live near each other.

Here's an example of what we find on Sourceforge.net:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/uaf/

That particular link shows you the UAF project, which is a modern version of the Dungeons & Dragons Goldbox series from SSI in the 80s/90s. Scroll down and see all the things it helps track.

I am looking for something like that, but not Sourceforge.net -- I would rather not go there unless I have to.

I do believe we have a winner with Microsoft's Codeplex! It's a little weak when it comes to tools, but it is a lot cleaner and streamlined compared to sourceforge. I went ahead and registered and will take a real close look tonight.

I did take a look at dev.java.net and codehaus.org, but they were both focused on JAVA.

My new game is actually written in vb.net, so Codeplex is going to work out great (I hope)! It's my first computer game, so here's hoping I can do it right!

Thanks to everyone for your help!

I work one building away from the CodePlex team and have lunch with them every once in a while. Let me know if you run into any snags with the site; I should be able to grease the wheels a little.
