WHere do you find extreme Power Gaming groups?

There's a gentleman over here that's looking to play D&D. He enjoys it, but he's an extreme power gamer. Stacks templates, tries to get the DM to allow a Hulking Hurler, leaves a game because he didn't roll an 18 during stat generation, starts an Epic campaig where everyone is 40th level, etc.

We have a good laugh at his expense (cruel, but true), but the guy IS trying to have fun (in his own way). Anyone know where I can direct him?

No clue. But IMO a good power gamer works with what he's got and doesn't complain about not roling an 18 or not being able to plain PRC X.

you need to send him to an online group. that features things like God Mode.

most of your typical MUDs will help him fulfill his needs

I think that the division between power gamers and munchkins is that former tend to operate within the rules, and within the DMs limits. When you got someone crying for templates and 18 stats it most probably a munchkin.

Tell him to "follow the yellow brick road" to Oz, land of munchkins....

His style of gaming is a minority so finding that 'type' of game will be difficult.

You could tell him to find a local Rifts group.

Actually this isn't a bad idea. Rifts is a pull for powergamers. I agree that he goes over the powergamer line. I know that I am a powergamer (I TRY not to be, but it happens, no matter what I do I power game.) I am not a munchkin though. I work with what I have, that is all. He is pure chedder though.
