Which "must buy" gaming item did you buy, but never use?

The Wheel of Time CS. I love WOT, and the book looks like it's pretty good (I'd buy it just for the picture of Moiraine), but I'm working on a homebrew campaign right now, so I have neither the time nor the need to read it at the moment. :(
I'll get to it eventually.

What crazy world do you live in. You will never ever have more free time than you did in college. NEVER! Ignore this statement if you are working and going to school;)

You are assuming he'll get a job after graduating.

Anyway, I've got a couple of the WotC adventure modules... I've never used them, and haven't bought any more. I have used every single other RPG book I've bought.

Spycraft. I was hoping for a cool book that would let me do espionage. I got late period Roger Moore James Bond. And a pool firearms section. And badly thought out departments in chargen. If I could have gotten my money back, I would have.

Hmm. If you're still single, have minimal social commitments, and don't work too much more than 40 hours a week, you should have plenty of free time after graduating. And quite a bit more money.

At least, that's been my experience. And no, I'm not counting the months while I was out of work.

I have a fair sized heap of EARTHDAWN boxed sets and supplements and a few of the early novels.

Heh, wanna sell em? I love that game. ;)

The things Ive bought and don't use are the FRCS and the Greyhawk CS. The FRCS has some nice feats, but other than that I get better feats, PrCs and spells in the Kalamar Players Guide. The Greyhawk books were a waste of money to me: I would have been just as fine if I simply used the From the Ashes boxed set :( But thats all IMHO.

Let's see... .that would be about 2/3 of my collection.

I own a lot of rpg books. I even own about 70 books of D&D 3rd edition.

I've always bought many rpg-books just for 'reading'. I only have time for so many systems/different worlds, but they make great idea-pool. I haven't even read all of them. I will someday, of course.

To add to that I've suffered for about four years unability to concentrate into anything non-interactive, and that makes reading books really hard. Hah. but I am slowly getting my normal mind-set back, I don't fast-forward all the movies and such anymore. :)

Ok, then there rpg-stuff I read/use partially. Life FR-stuff. I have severe Forgotten Realms allergy, but those books contain very interesting and usable material besides all-those-things-I-can't-stand.

I use many monsters and spells from Rokugan books, but I don't use that world itself.

Despite the fact that I own that many 3rd edition books, I actually use most of them, except for low-level modules I happened to buy. They are just too lacking of ideas worth converting to our high level games.

Oh, yes, there is one exception. I just didn't manage to read that Kalamar HC book. It was soooo boringly written. I've heard it contains interesting ideas (hidden to me), but the manner that book is written, lacks totally the spark that lightens my imagination.

The splatbooks. I have them all, but then I just never get around to using them. I guess I should, but I use the Character Generator that came with the PHB (version 1.2) which doesn't have any of those options. Just lazy of me I guess.

The Psionics Handbook. I really, really want to, but convincing my players is another matter.

The Forgotten Realms 3e book. Looks great but I cannot for the life of me figure out why I bought it. I hated The Realms before and I still do. Marketing 1 : My Brain 0. I'm stupid, I know.

The Psionics handbook. I REALLY want to use it. I love the system. To much effort to integrate it into an already running campaign. Glad I have it though.

Exalted (lots of stuff). Great concept, great writing, but the setting is Crap. I cannot suspend my disbelief no matter how hard I try. And I have purchased a LOT of material to help me get over this mental block, to no avail. Right now it just collects dust on my shelves.

SSS Creature Collection 1 also collects dust on my shelves. Bought it when I was on a d20 binge. Contains nothing I'd ever use.
