Which sword would you take?

I think #1 is objectively stronger, but if it were my character picking, it would come down to what fit the character concept best.

I'd go with #2. Bonus to AC, consistant frost bonus damage, and all. Seems to be a better sword, all around.

#1 for me, thankyouverymuch.

The deciding factor is the larger base bonus and the circle of protection from evil. The circle protects from mind control, and thats a game winner sometimes.

#2, but I'm a big fan of the elemental things...especially Water/Frost.

#1. Protection from Evil is fantastic even after all the AC and save bonuses are subsumed by other items. No more mind control, and many summoned critters won't attack me? Fantastic. Then, on top of that, it's a +5 Defender, and sometimes an extra 5 points of AC can make a huge difference.

I prefer #2. I think it is more versatile, as the unnamed bonus to AC, saves, and initiative are always useful, and the icy burst will benefit me more often than the outsider bane quality. Protection from evil just isn't that great at the level where these swords might be appropriate gear for a character. I also like the major fire resistance. The defending property of #1 is nice, but not enough to sway me to #1.
