Well, it's after midnight here in Austin, and that makes it officially Wednesday, January 14th. Officially the day the Time of Judgment starts, and the end of the current World of Darkness begins.

And, of far greater importance, the day Gehenna: The Final Night--my first published novel--hits the stands.

I hope it's not too arrogant for me to crow about this, but I've wanted to be a novelist since long before the notion of working in the RPG field ever even occurred to me. And while I have no intention of leaving this field--I'm having too much fun--I dare hope that this novel is, to paraphrase ol' Obi-Wan, my "first step into a larger world."

We now return you to regularly scheduled, horn-tootingless forum.

Hiya Mouseferatu! I assume the book is the best one ever written, right? C'mon, don't be modest :) And congratulations!

I will indeed be writing for WoD 2.0, and in fact have already done so. I obviously can't go into any detail, except to say that I really like the vast majority of what I've seen/heard/been involved with. :)

I'm happy that you've been published, congrats. But it's a mixed feeling, as I've had nothing but disgust at WW for floundering the WoD line and then killing it (more of a mercy killing at this point).

'floundering'?

I hear the new-ish management wanted to clean house. So much has already been written, there are few major things to work with.

What i hope for the next WOD is less setting, backstory and rules fusion. Much of the writing is good. I just LOVE PenteX. Most of the histories of the current one require certain rules to always be included; Werewolves in the man-wolf form cause temporary insanity in humans. Vampires can 'lick' the wounds they cause closed. Werewolves can teleport to the Umbra [astral plane] by looking at a reflective surface. Vampires decend from the biblical Cain. Dropping any of these for a game tends to require oodles of work to re tool the presented plot for belivabillity.

Also each of the seperate games have just enough diffrences in rules to make thing hairy when using crossgame characters.

Another problem is the 'FR syndrome' where select obsessives know more about the WOD backstory than many people trying to run the games.

What i hope is the Next WoD is the rules kept seperate from the story and more customizable. With options to craft a story in any era without many of histories villians aready spoken for. want rasputin for a mage?.. sorry he's a vampire and a werewolf.... ewwwww.

Come on now mouse you can spill a little somthing about the next WOD...

Mousferatu knows what's coming up... I'll have to track him down and "coerce" him into spilling the beans in a "friendly" manner...

Of course, "coerce" means beat, and "friendly" means torturous... :D

Congrats on your publication!

Can he? Because if he does, I want him to do so :D

I heard that the next WoD will be using d20 rules (WoD20?). Is there anything to that rumor?

A hearty congratulations to you Mouseferatu, on both the novel and for being able to work on the second iteration of WoD. I have high hopes, that without the baggage currently present, I'll grow to appreciate the World of Darkness. Having you along to help in that development process, only inspires more confidence.
