Now no elemental planes and this huge revision in the multiverse (again) and screwing with the way devils and demons worked? There was nothing wrong with them at all! (least not in 3e or even 2e). I really just have to ask this and see an ENWorld poll on this.

All these huge changes to the flavor and sacred cows of the game. 4E should've just been a MECHANICS change only.

WotC is destroying everything D&D was known for and making it their own, making it "WotC's D&D" and killing off their old customer base completely. Honestly, I believe the only blind sheep buying into all this are the ones brand new to D&D, ignorant entirely of D&D until 4E comes out, WotC employees, and WotC employees disguised as random message board posters.

Do you really want to try and defend the fact that this is even really "D&D" anymore? Or can you truthfully admit that it's not D&D, it just has the name. Do you honestly believe gamers, old and new, are going to dive into this? I can see only the new ones, I really can't imagine what older or more experienced gamer would really dive into this and accept this.

And I am TIRED of WotC telling us what THEY think is good for us. Are there really a ton of people THAT confused with devils and demons? I guess their damn DM wasn't doing a good enough job portraying those differences in their campaigns, then. Sounds like 4E is the result of really bad DMs, to me.

Whoa. How about a poll that isn't skewed?

No, it's not the same D&D. I realize you have a opinion that won't budge, so I won't try. But I will say that the game appears to be shaping to be the one I've wanted since I got that purple box almost 25 years ago.

Not enough options.

Incidently, I'm pretty upset about the direction they seem to be going with the game as well, but I suggested taking a deep breath before posting next time. They can take our continuing support, but they can't take our game.

And look at it this way. At least you are in no danger of buyer's remorse. Think how much better off that makes you than thousands of people this time next year.

I'll bite.

I like the proposed changes. So I'm not only a blind sheep, but also a WotC plant?

Didn't you get banned for this sort of thing earlier?

Actually, while I do not agree with OP's entire post, I do agree that what is being presented is very different from what I've always seen (and played) as D&D. From the mechanics to the flavor - it's all different now. It may not be bad, but it's not really the same game anymore.

It's going to be harder than you think to tear the DnD spirit out of any version of it, honestly.

Maybe if they did away with all the iconic creatures and items, but we can just put those back in...

I'm not entirely sure that I understand the point of the original post... Are you saying that you think that D&D 4th Edition will be the coolest game ever and all other games will pale in comparison? That's what it sounds like you're saying.

Me, too! Why can't they give us stuff that they think is BAD for us?
