Who should be the new James Bond? (merged with "Brosnan Quits" Thread)

Bale can't be Bond AND Batman! That's just too much coolness for one man to handle. He'd exlode under the pressure of the sweaty thoughts of a million fanboys (and fangirls, lets be fair!).

If he wasn't going to be Batman as well, I'd agree...but I think it'd be hard to accept him one role having seen him in the other.
Yeah, like someone being Gandalf and Magneto. Oh, wait... :)

One of the names that has been associated with the Bond franchise as a replacement has been Adrian Paul (of Highlander fame). Connery will always be the iconic film Bond with Brosnan coing in second. In terms of playing the character as he was originally written by Fleming, I have to give Dalton the nod. He played Bond well and was hampered by especially bad scripts and vision.

Don't count Brosnan out yet. A lot of sites are claiming that the initial reports of his being axed have been shot down, and that Brosnan is still up for one or two more Bond films.

As I said in the other Bond thread, don't count Brosnan out yet. A lot of sites are starting to claim that the reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated.

The Bond movies have gotten so boring at this point, just about the only thing that could save the franchise would be a new Bond with a LOT of character. They have to throw the old stuffy character out the window and start again with someone more interesting.

Samuel L. Jackson would be a great Bond.
Johnny Depp...
Hell, Ashton Kutcher would at least be more interesting to watch than Brosnan was.

For the next Bond, I thought of a couple not so damned uber-superstar actors who would be good.

Sean Bean was already a villain in a Bond flick, so this may disqualify him, but I've always thought that he'd make an awesome Bond after having seen some of his Sharpe movies.

Jason Isaacs, another guy who regularly plays villains, has the right look for Bond I think.

Either of them would be better than Clive Owen, IMO. Owen's just a bit too boring in most of the stuff I've seen him in.

I just don't get all the suggestions of Jude Law and Hugh Jackman that I see on websites. Taking on the role of James Bond tends to typecast you, and if an actor has already scored big elsewhere, chances are, they aren't going to want to take on the Bond role. IMO, that eliminates Law, Jackman, MacGregor, Grant, and all the other big name stars that are supposedly up for consideration.

I liked Die Another Die probably the most, and GoldenEye comes second. That tank chase in St. Petersburg is just so cool!

IMO Brosnan was a very good bond.
