D&D 5E WHOH - Fighters get 4 attacks. Barb/Paladin gets 2 and all else gets 1???

I am wondering is these extra attacks makes the Champion subclass of the fighter (with its expanded crit range stating at 3rd level from what I heard) more attractive than the battlemaster one (with maneuvres etc).

Ok. I"ll admit that the point where it's 2 attacks up til 11 and only then does the fighter get "more" in general sense. And the 4th at 20 isn't as important since it's 20.

Maybe all the other damage abilities of the other groups does even it out. I guess i'd expect feats to boost damage like the old fighter focus style but that could be used in the other classes too.

Don't forget that feats in this edition are used to emulate the abilities of other classes.

Yeah, that's one bit of 4e design that made it into 5e. :) I feel like 4e feat-based multiclassing was usually kind of weak, but adding it to a 3e-style multiclassing system makes for easy, excellent dabbling in a class.

Expanded crit range is a little less potent than +1 to hit (+2 to hit at level 15).

Critting 5 (or eventually 10) more percent of the time doesn't sound anywhere near the versatility and power of maneuvers like Distracting Strike which can be done when the player chooses, not when the dice choose.

And at level 15, the Battle Master always has superiority dice.
