Why are all movement rates in increments of 10?

Is there a reason why movement rates can't also come in increments of 5? Like, dwarves, goblins, and kobolds having a movement rate of 25?

makes everything nice and "round" and easy. That's likely too why they changed the gargoyle's speed in 3.5 from 3e.

One of the splat books, I believe song and silence, has a feat called "Dash" which grants you a +5 base speed...

That's a start, I suppose...

Some things added in half your speed or limited you to half your speed, if it was in 5 foot increments you would not end up in a square at the end of moving but half-way between two squares.

I don't know about that half-speed thing - the Blind-Fight feat already allows you to move three-fourths your movement when you can't see. 3/4 of 30 ft is 22.5 feet. I assume that rounds down to 20 feet.

I should have put in that my statement was based merely on conjecture, not based on any solid textual source. :)
