I don't recall reading this anywhere. I am guessing it must be "wielded" to gain anything and I know it said it could also be used as a quarterstaff weapon, and those are 2-handed - but I didn't think you actually had to use a staff in two hands to gain anything from it.

In fact, it seems like the perfect 2nd implement: you carry it around for the +1 AC and use your main as your primary magic weapon.

Actually it is the wizard's choice whether the staff implement is a quarterstaff (two-handed weapon) or a walking stick (not a weapon, just an implement. Possibly useful as a club.). So one-handed wielding is still in.

What book is it in, and what page, please?

Thanks, -- N

According to the FAQ, the opposite is true: you get the AC bonus (and access to daily powers) while holding a staff with one hand, but you don't get any bonuses to attacks (including attack powers) unless you wield the staff, which requires both hands.

And don't forget: you still have to hit in the first place. It's very possible to build a perfect orb/sleep wizard and have him miss the sleep attack.
This is why Elves are such devastating Wizards. :)

FAQ? They have a FAQ already? ;)

All I know is what I read in RAW which indicates that the staff must be wielded to get the bonus.

I do like not having to do that, it gives my Wizard more options if I go that route.
