Why do you care so much about so little?

Kzach, I believe I see your point. But belittling others' interests and cares is a little bit insulting.

If you want to see more threads about game substance, start them.*

*Please do, because I agree with you: we do need more threads about gaming. However, I find plenty of good threads in the 4E, Pathfinder, and Legacy forums.

I can't posrep you, so I'll just give a little HELL YES to this.

HELL YES!

Could be because the 4e mechanics are such a thing of incredible beauty that there just isn't anything left to criticise.

I kid, I kid. :p

As a DM I spend a lot of time working on my campaigns and thinking about Dungeons and Dragons. It's something I enjoy a lot and want to continue enjoying for a long time. If people are upset with wizards and getting frustrated, they may not want to play anymore. If I can't find people to play with then I can't play DnD. If I can't play DnD anymore that makes me sad.

So what Wizards does and how they keep DnD as a healthy game going is very important to me. Because people being happy with wizards means they are happy to continue playing DnD. Which means I have people to run games for and thus makes me happy.

Over the last few months I've lost interest in posting here because of the constant and somewhat obsessive focus of discussions on the minutia of WotC's inner-workings... It's almost as if people have been personally offended by the company and are seeking some sort of compensation. Or possibly a dividend.

When can we get back to the real discussion about our hobby and all the cool stuff about it?
My guess is that there is a considerable percentage of the EN World population with not only a disinterest in 4E but anything from dislike to out and out hatred. I would guess most of them are in a holding pattern waiting for the next edition (which is futile because I can't imagine the D&D pendulum swinging back but further away from the old tropes and editions]. As such, these posters don't have anything to contribute about the latest edition (good or bad because they simply don't know about it) and so the only real topic of general conversation is to deathride WotC and their increasingly lacklustre decisions.

As such, I don't see much changing unless WotC can pull a massive rabbit out of the hat - and here's hoping that they do.

I want to give WOTC hard earned dollars for quality role playing product.

I cannot give WOTC hard earned dollars for quality role playing product.

This situation is anomalous. Especially after a decade if purchasing many quality role playing products from WOTC.

A method of intergamer communication is provided.

What happens next is pretty obvious.

I heard _____________ (fill in the blank with your choice of WotC employee) sold his/her car. I bet this means WotC will be redacting every other page in the core books and anything taken from those pages.

Twenty 200 page threads about the same topic, out of which 60% turn into "roll-playing vs. roleplaying" threads and the remainging 40% change topic so often that the title only confuses you after page 10?

Really, i like ENworld, but what's happening right now is a little bit hard for me to describe with the term "intergamer communication." More like "unending depressing recursive nitpicking in an endless loop." I honestly start to dread clicking on that little icon in my quickbar.

Well maybe I'm just an anomaly then because I'm someone who looked at 4e, and saw what looked like a system for cookie-cutter video game style characters, then when I actually played it found it to be what I consider the best version of D&D to date. I love the game. My problem is with certain recent choices, made by the corporation that produces it.
