Why do you post in enWorld? And where do you most often post?

This may be a strange question to some of you ... but I have been wondering why many of you post in here? (Not a criticism, more of a curiosity.)

For myself, I find that I just like gamers. I am one, I grew up as one (began playing in 1979) and enjoy speaking to people who read the same things and have a similiar set of "background material" ... and yet remaining so diverse too!

Took me a long, long time before I could ever put a "handle" on my ... err ... cultural subset or whatever you want to call it. An (unexpected!) trip to the first GenCon held in Indianapolis served as the catalyst for this....

Also, where do you post most frequently?

For example, I like to post in the Non RPG Forums of Computer/Technology, this forum (the off-topic), and in the Media Lounge.

In the RPG Forums I like to post in the General section and infrequently wander into the DnD Rules and the d20 System forums. I am not much of a "rules specialist" but like to see what others say about things. I also like to see what is going on in the d20 publishing world, being partial to the products put out by Goodman Games, for example.

In the Gaming Action Forums I like to read the Story Hour every now and again and the Playing the Game Forums too, primarily the latter as some of my old friends from back in upstate NY post a few threads throught there and I like to see what they are up to! :)

I love ENWorld. I post here as often as I can. I usually post most often in Living ENWorld, followed by Rules, General, Off-Topic, and Media Lounge. I've posted in several other forums, but not very consistently.

I post here because Piratecat stands behind me all day with a gun pointed at my head. I love ENWorld! :D

I post because I like to talk to other people that love gaming. I also like to steal other people's ideas from their games because they are so much cooler than mine! :]

In all seriousness though, I love throwing something out there that is happening in my game and seeing what other people think about it and what ideas they might have. I also find the rules forum useful for answering any questions that I might have.

Overall I think I post the most on General. Although lately I have found that I post on D&D Rules and the Off-Topic forum a lot more than I did previously (basically never). I give the Meta and Publisher forum a look from time to time. I was reading a couple of Story Hours but I haven't been back there for a while now.

I love gaming and I love EnWorld. It seems a natural place to bounce ideas off of each other, to share material you have come up with with others and in the off-topic forums just to shoot the cowpie. All in all, just being able to have an outlet and to be able to hang out with friends, no matter the distance between them, and share your experiences/ideas, it just seems the natural place to be.

1) Helping others.

2) Character design hints.

3) Campaign design hints.

4) Rules discussions.

5) General gaming discussion without having to listen to someone talk about the latest adventures of their last PC, Obnoxio the Bard...unless I want to.

6) Amusement.

I actually got sick of the boards for a while, but since I met some people at Gen Con I've come back. It's neat to put names with faces and posts with personalities, etc.

I don't post that much (my high post count is due to PBP games I no longer play), but I regularly read General, Off-Topic, Media, Open Calls, Gamers Seeking, Meta, and Software. There's one SH that I read, but I'm not in that forum because I'm subscribed. General often has interesting threads, Open Calls because I'm a freelance editor/writer, Gamers because I'm looking for a game!, Meta because sometimes there's something of note going on.

Recently, I've been posting mostly in Off-Topic, Media, and Software, the latter two because someone I met at Gen Con posts there a lot. Off-Topic is just fun, as evidenced by this thread. :)

I come here to share ideas and get feedback. ...well sometimes I get feedback.....

I enjoy sharing adventures with Storyhour which used to be the main place I explored. I traveled through the General area learning of new product and when uncertain about a product I would discover what others thought of it.

I did some PbP but found my life conflicts with it. I hope to return to it soon.

I find myself in Off-Topic often these days. Always looking for conversation and feedback.

I mostly lurk.

When I do post it's because I feel I have something to say that no one else has said yet or is likely to say soon. As a result I rarely post in General. Mostly I post in Off Topic, Computers, and Meta, which are less-travelled forums.

I post for entertainment, thus mostly in the Pbp boards and LEW. Also I often look at the ten most recent threads posted in on the front page and post in anything that catches my eye, Like this one!
I'm easing back into the boards and should be surfing most of them in the upcoming future!

I origially signed up when Enkhidu and DShai527 started writing their story hour that my character is in. I only lurked for years, but recently started posting. I mainly post only in the off topic forums because I am fairly new to gaming and most of what they go off on in the rules forums and that is over my head. So, I only lurk there and try to learn. I like the people here. That's why I post at all. :D
