Wil Wheaton in Dungeon Magazine [merged]

How in the world could this be bad for the hobby? If you don't like his column, don't read it. It's one page.

Stuff like this is why gaming will never become even remotely mainstream.

OK, so in one statement you are saying that famous people aren't cool because they are popular, and that you are upset because he will prevent our hobby from becoming popular???

That is one of the rudest and most snobbish things I have ever read on these boards.

Actually, he is saying that he does not want the hobby to become mainstream. I can't blame him. I mean it's bad enough the jocks rule the sports, now they're conquering the geek world of computers, internet, and gaming. Let's face it, we're losing the one identity that makes us ... special.

Well, it is HIS opinion. Just nod your head and pretend you're listening. :p

Wheaton begged his blog-junkies for money so he could take his wife out to dinner. He claimed it was their fault that he didn't spend enough time with his wife. (i.e. he spent so much time blogging and neglecting his wife and felt his readers owed him money.)

They gave him money.

I'm still not sure which is the bigger loser: Wheaton, the Blog-Junkies, or his Wife.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please cease the insults. This is not the place for them.

Thank you.

If you don't like the column, it's fine to say so, but bashing him personally or his family isn't cool.

I hope you realise this is the same as calling Morrus and all the ENworlders who donated money to this site losers. But you seem like a reasonable and intelligent fellow so I'm sure you do.

Sorry Henry.

I know I can't be the only one that thought that statement was funny.

Some of you guys really need to take a step back and lighten up.

If you are comparing Morrus and all the ENworlders (which donated money to support a useful and practical website) to a bunch of Blog-Junkies that blindly worship the "star" of such hits as "Fag Hag" and "Lifestories: Families In Crisis", then you are insulting Morrus and all the ENworlders, not I.

I don't care if you love Wheaton, I was just letting people know that he will beg for money from his fanatics, and I was feeling sorry for his wife. If you think he will make a fine contribution to D&D, you probably also watch "Enterprise" and "Smallville". And you *shush* people if they talk during the show.

I love Smallville, but never really got into Enterprise.

Does it make me a bad person for watching Smallville? *sniff* :(
